One of the very few true legends of carp fishing, met him a couple of times to pick his brain on leney stocking. His books are some of the very few I will never part with.

I have a great deal of respect for Chris and have enjoyed reading his articles and books for many years. In all honesty we owe him a great deal for preserving our history in such a thorough manner.

Gerry do you think Chris would be able to tell me if the original stocking at Shillamill,nr Lanreath were leneys,I was told by Mr n Mrs Pearce,after they bought it from John Facey they were part of the last stocking Donald Leney did?..

He will definitely know as I'm sure he had Donald leney's stocking records at one point although I'm told Chris yates has them now? Either way he will know.

I'm fascinated by the old ,old skool..especially since I learnt many many years ago about the string of quarries ,I know about stocked by Peter Mohan,that's what fired my interest,plus I've fished n visited some of em..
Would be brilliant if Shillamill was stocked,by Mr Leney as I've ALL,the pics of them in 35mm stashed away,virtually every fish..!!..they look unlike any other carp I've caught before or since,and boy,did they fight some..!
Oh well.....

Unfortunately, I don't have any of the Leney ledgers anymore, Mark Walsingham has them on loan from Chris Yates these days. I can't remember seeing anything about Shillamill, but thats only from memory. So can't really help this time around. ChrisB.

Ahh,thanks for trying though Gerry,I knew Skeff had them at one point ,probably to do with Redmire,I don't know,worth a go though,it remains a mystery,and I like unfinished mysteries..
