looking at picking this bag up for this winter.
i know its well reviewed on here but id like some more recent views on it.
do i need the compact or the wide for a standard bedchair?

Compact.

I have the standard bag on a standard chair and there is a bit of overhang... So yes a compact will fit better

I used mine for the first time last weekend and it was great. It was very warm and comfortable well worth the money. Mine was the compact version.

Yes mate very warm I didn't even use my bedchair cover with it through last winter... Just the bag...
Plus I never zip one side up incase I get a run 😁
For the money it is very good, warm, waterproof outer, and easy to move around in...

I used mine for first time last weekend, i have a compact on a Trakker levelite, I'm 6'4" and found it perfect
so well happy.
I do think an additional cover will be needed if it gets really cold

Yes, just a single leaf that fixes to the upper with some crap looking toggles. I was expecting an 'inner bag' tbh

Definitely the compact version, this would fit most bedchairs fine. I've got mine on a tactical one perfectly.
Used it for 4 nights and it's brilliant, the top single leaf keeps the heat in well and you have enough room to move around in it.
Only thing I found a bit odd was the duffle flap running across the top end of your bag (where your neck would be when laying down)
I don't know what it's for but it holds my pillow in perfectly!! I would imagine this would cause discomfort without a pillow

Me too. Just occurred to ask the question. How ridiculous is that just to have one section? I found it cold with the section in last winter and had to have a cover on top which sorted it out.
Yeah, those toggles are pony, same as the s hit zip. Cheapskates couldn't even put in a decent YKK in the thing. At some point I'll get the drycleaners down the road to sort the zip out.

The fanny flap at the top is a poorly executed attempt at a heat retention baffle taken from 'proper' sleeping bag designs.

I had a tailer take the baffle out and stitch it up...causing my shoulders to ache,other than that its a great bag

No mate not guilty
that bit didn't annoy me, and like the other poster mentioned it seemed to help keep the pillow in place. I can't see the toggles on the bottom lasting long with me, only done one night in it and I kept wrapping my feet in the loose bit.
The zips feel good to me so far
