Don't worry, this isn't another moan. I've got a hypothetical question which I've been thinking about a lot recently, interested to hear thoughts.
Angler A is in full time employment, gets 1 night a fortnight to fish.
Angler B is retired/unemployed and fishes 4 nights a week.
Angler A is trying to maximise his time backside by, as he's read in the magazines, doing evening and morning baiting missions to ensure his time on the bank is productive. He's also read, however, to offer etiquette to his fellow anglers by not baiting when others are fishing etc.
My question is this. To what extent does etiquette give way to the realities that, actually, if you're going to get any valuable fishing done you may have to bait on lakes with anglers on. It only takes two Angler B's to be fishing alternate patterns for the lake to have anglers on at all times. Both have paid the same for their ticket but one is getting 10 times the bank side time as well as the privilege of being able to command who baits when, citing etiquette as the rationale.
In my eyes, we're sometimes offering too much etiquette to the anglers that often need the least help.

Nothing to say you can't bait up when others are fishing. I wouldn't turn up and start baiting next to them. Just bait a swim or three away from anglers mate. Do it on the quiet. You may find someone fishing your baited swims at times. That's carp fishing these days. Stealth is key 👍

I don't think there is anything wrong with baiting up with other anglers on the lake, just make sure you are not interfering with their fishing.

The reality in your scenario is that angler A has not got a chance in hell and should just enjoy his fishing. Angler B is doing the equivalent of 8 years fishing in one year compared to angler A
That's the reality
Don't believe all the bollox and hype, you have to be there, it's that simple
You will also find that fish chasers will fish your spots while your at work if you have been catching, can be frustrating especially when you know they are mediocre anglers. Bait up at night, the whole lake lol

I'd just get to know angler B. Most anglers are sound and if they end up being a mate then they'll have no issues with it as long as you dont take the piss. If they end up being a **** then it's no problem, just do it anyway.

Bait up when Angler A leaves and in darkness. Plenty of Angler Bs on my lake let them crack on swim

Both anglers may have seen something in the swim so both think they are getting something going without actually knowing about it
My First session after lockdown I get down to a lake about 5am and I'm the only one on it 60 odd acres
I was Fishing for a couple of hours and a youngish lad comes up to me and says I was hoping this swim was free as I baited up yesterday.. Have you seen anything
Not really I says and he proceeded to tell me he filled it in the previous evening
I was gutted.
I'd have Rather he hadn't said a word About it and just walked off.
He left an hour later to go to work...
Why do that...
I packed up and left as I just didn't feel it was on my own merits if I had caught one.

Should have just filled it in when you went
One thing though, water dependant, lots of bait is not always the answer

Tell angler A to stop reading the magazines and stop regularly chucking his expensive bait in to try and compete angler B on a regular basis
Tell angler A to prebait the day before he intends to fish, angler B shouldn't have a problem with that, if he does he's an arse.

Got to laugh, I was fishing one water and a lad saw me bait up one evening and said to me, you won't put as much as me in. He was wrong. It it was fun doing it though, bait wars

I forgot to say angler B may have put in so much bait that it makes it difficult for him just to get up, walk away and fish elsewhere

I personally will not bait up if anyone's on the lake. I'll check the booking online and just pop down when know one is there. I've had it on so many club lakes, people don't care, people fishing and baiting up everywhere. Luckily my syndicate isn't like that

I've found that the big waters with fewer fish, the anglers tend to be, not always the case mind, decent blokes if they know you're baiting a spot and keep away if you let them know. There are exceptions where you will get the odd knob that slips through and just will fish blokes spots even with the full knowledge that others have spent their hard earned pilling bait in.
It's always been my personal etiquette not to fish where I know someone is putting time and bait into, even if I see fish crashing on the spot I'll avoid it, it's just the decent thing to do.
Not always the case, I've found small waters a real nightmare and avoid them as its very difficult to get anything going and littered with knobends. You end up having to go to ridiculous lengths and I just can not be bothered with it and the general madness of small waters.
