I realise there has been old threads on this but they all 2 years + old so thought would see what people are using.

After a decent fluro mainline. Was going to get berkley cf600 15lbs as looks exactly what i am after but its sold out everywhere. Any recommendations?

Will be used on my spare spools with bait boat mostly where i don't need to cast 100y plus so require low memory line to not coil on me too much. Must of course sink well

Any info appreciated

I was in the tackleshop yesterday and the owner had a sample of Berkley fluroshield.
From what I could gather it's a combo of mono coated with fluoro.
Looked exactly like fluoro, but felt and acted like mono. I even tried to put some twist into it and it just bounced straight back.
No idea on knot strength, sinking etc, but I'd recommend at least having a look at it. I was very impressed, never seen anything like it.
It's available down here from the end of the month, no idea on uk availability

Berkley cf600 behaves fantastic on the spool and sinks like a brick. I loved it at first but found its abrasion to be shockingly bad. I haven't found anything I liked as much as this but had to stop using it due to its poor abrasion. I'm now using pro clear from GLT, hard to get hold of but it's fantastic. It's not a fluoro but once It's under the water it really sinks well. It's the perfect in between from a mono to a fluoro. 👍

16lb Tiger Line mate, just spooled up with this again, been using in 5 years. best about by far!

I've been using X line for the last 10 years and can't see me changing . Ive tried a few others but always go back to the X .

Haven't used it for sometime but 20lb X-Line served me well, did behave better after stretching and I preferred it on large diameter spools.

I love xline. On a nice big shimano xta pit
Only my second respool in 10 years. Old and supple now and sinks like an old chain. I love it.

I have
Proclear on my third seldom used rod in case I need a bit of distance.

I like the 17 lbs version , just the right combination for my kind of fishing with regards to distance and abrasive resistance.
That said I have used the 12 and you can defo chuck it further .

I was advised years ago to go for the 17 as xline breaks lower.

I've used the X-line in 20 and the Berkley in 15, both felt like similar diameter so I guess they rate differently.

Berkley replaced X-line that I had used for years, shouldn't have bothered. X-line behaves better, casts better and most importantly can actually sustain being knotted. Found the CF600 really deteriorated and was way too brittle on any type of knot I tried after a few months use.

As I said earlier I have tried a few other flurocarbon main lines but have always ended up back on the X line
One other point not mentioned is that it's very reasonable priced compared to some especially if you go for the 600 spool .
