Massive fish kill on Littleton south lake. This is the old korda/embryo lake where TH filmed the tunnels video. I smelt the death driving past it earlier and had it confirmed this afternoon. Shame, total devastation from Oxygen crash following an algal bloom and then thunderstorms.

I drove up the m3 past it tuesday morning mat....terrible smell....sad news m8

Many lakes are on the edge, several fisheries having the pumps on to try and save the fish.

I know of one Essex syndicate that has lost almost, if not it's entire stock. Very sad.
As said, a lot of waters have been on the brink.

So many waters with problems, I thought the weekend downpours would help. Another big storm on the way too

Farnham have shut all their lakes at Yateley.

Hopefully the big winds and heavy rains forecast will help oxygenate the water.

Everything gone mate including some massive eels. Terrible shame, there was some lovely old carp in there and also massive bream for the specimen anglers.

All gone now though, the margins are littered with decaying fish and invertebrates.

Unfortunately the downpours can trigger the problems by killing off the algae.

One effect can be-

Surface water cools and becomes heavier than the water below and “Inverts” , now the dormant bacteria that's accumulated at the lake bed has nutrient, Oxygen and light – and multiplies at an extreme rate and in the process sucks all the Oxygen out of all the water.
