I think i know the answer to this but will ask anyway.
I have a set of ESP MK1 Snipers 3lb sitting in my loft doing nothing. I love the blanks but in reality have enough 12ft rods and I always planned to have a handle rebuild anyway, So I am wondering whether getting them shortened to 10ft (or 11ft) is an option .... Can this be done so to leave two equal sections and without killing the action? Would any self respecting rod builder take it on? .... Or is it just a bad idea?

Sounds a headache of a job, I know people used to take a foot off the butt section and move reel seat upbut that was years 25 ago on old Sundridge and Shakespeare rod's

sounds like a fun project for the lockdown if you were doing it yourself. But you wont know what the action is until you've chopped them down. The cost of a rod builder doing it would be very high.
Better off putting them on ebay and once sold treating yourself to some new ones.

Perfectly possible.
I wouldn't take anything from the tip side as being a 3lbs rod already it would make the rod a proper broomstick.
I know when i worked at Cotswold Rods back in the days we did a couple of these chopping jobs.

To make it 2 equal sections and not turn it into a spod rod you'd need to cut it at the join and add a spigot, so the action won't be the same. But using a different butt section you could possibly make them even better, or ruin a lovely set of blanks.
I reckon Kev Baines is the only one with the cojones and ability in equal measure to do it but in the great scheme of things you may as well sell or store them and buy something purpose made.

Could cut it from the butt up to the reel handle and put a new handle on it But the sections wouldn't be equal and it would then be relatively easy to do.
Century do a stalker that has 2 different length sections T1 or T2 is it? A mate of mine has a couple of them

Been tempted by the 10' 1.75 but as I'm difficult I actually want a 4pc fast action 9' 1.75 with 20mm guides to fit in fly rod tubes
Considered a 12 or 14 fly blank but I don't see that going well at all

Might try something like this and make a donking rod
Thanks for feedback folks, as i thought, probably best to leave them alone ... i wouldnt sell, i always struggle to let rods go

Im pretty sure Kev like myself is not doing any more refurbs ! Its just not worth it .

I think you may be on about Kev Clayton and not Kev Baynes hence the confusion..
As Noj alluded to in post 5, probably one of the only rod builders about with "the cajonas and the ability to take something like that on" and hence me referring to 'Kev' as Kev Baines thereafter.
