Now that the new power barrows have been released i.e solar, carp porter which is the king of the power barrows?

Off top of my head fox, nash, carp porter and solar all have power barrows.

Which is the most reliable and well made?
Which is the easiest to use i.e. easy to pack away and setup
Which has the best motor and batteries?

If i was buying one again,it would be the solar one.The only thing that could sway me towards carp porter is their customer service is superb unlike solar

To be fair... They are all made in China.

I've got a MK8 Carp/ Power Porter. Seems alright, the build quality is the same as any other barrow on the market though. Plenty of luggage options available for them. I upgraded mine with a lithium battery pack, and it's made quite a difference to it's start up power and overall torque.

If I was buying again, I'd probably only look at the carp Porter or the Solar one. The Nash and fox options always looked that bit extra Chinese to me, in terms of their running gear.

After my usual over research I bought the Nash one and its spot on and im no nash fanboy!

been hearing very good things about the solar barrow , carp porter quality has gone right down

same here, i bought the smaller nash one, which is great in my opinion although i now realise my bedchair is insanely massive and perhaps i might need a bigger barrow or a smaller bedchair

You pay your money and make your choice!

I've had the Nash Metro for several years now and have had zero issues - its a great bit of kit IMO and perfect for my angling. Primary reason is size and weight - its one of the most compact (based on Nash Trax) and doesn't have side bars etc that just add weight (I use the legs of my bedchair to achieve the same function). It also means that by simply removing the handles I can chuck the barrow in the boot (wheels in the air) without any further assembly etc - I have never removed the front wheel the entire time I've owned the thing . . .

Another good thing is the barrow bags / accessories - I've got all of them and they mean you can fish off the barrow if required (as well as being able to lug more sh*te you probably don't need) TBF I have pimped the barrow this year - now running LifeP04 batteries which are a massive upgrade from lead acid (more consistent power / last way longer / less recharging) as well as the barrow buddies swivelling rear wheel kit, which further adds to the barrow stability, manoeuvrability and being able to load up even more. These also stay on the barrow and go straight in the boot 'assembled' upside down

Only downside to Nash is battery access; you cannot change or recharge batts without removing all your gear, so if you are a van and ramp user then maybe this would be a pain . . .saying that if I was a van user I would probably get a Solar (that are significantly longer / bigger / heavier) but only because I'd have space to carry even more sh*te!

What ever you choose swap the battery for a lithium one

Its all personal preference and lots of good fb below - Lipo batteries being number one after that its more how you fish, what you take that id go with

Ive had every power porter over the years and youll see my reviews on here if you do a search but I moved to the Nash versions and Ive actually got the big and the small one - 9/10 I use the small one as I dont need to take loads of gear and as mentioned below dont necesarily think you need the sides anyway I find I always take too much when I take the big one and that was the case before when I had a pp Xtreme big boy its just overkill for me personally so dont need the rear wheels etc etc


Im yet to see the solar offering but most people on my syndicate have the nash, porter or the dreaded BCUK versions

One thing I will say is that they are worth every penny and I very much doubt youll go back to pushing

I have a new Carp porter extreme big boy and can confirm after a few months use that it's pretty much everything you need. If you need to break it down it's easy and relatively easy to store. It can handle anything you throw at it and it has a big battery so no concerns about range. Quality of the build is good. Considering it took a while to get to me and cost a lot it's still been worth it.

With the motor and gearbox it's very much superior to all the other direct drive barrows and has a lot more torque.

considering all the barrows are quite closely priced you'd be better off just getting the Carp porter for the superior drive imo.

I have a carp porter mk 8. All i would say is make sure which ever you buy that they sell every spare part. Carp porter does this.
Ive replaced several parts in the last 5 or 6 years. Even had a new frame as the original one split after a bad tip over. New frame £75 which i thought was reasonable.

The thing that really puts me off the carp porters are the fixed back wheels, seems a really cumbersome outdated design especially considering it's a brand new barrow. Why haven't they gone for back wheels like the solar one? I know the fox barrow has the same type but the solar ones do look a hell of a lot better than the fox wheels
