Looks ok but I prefer a long pod so that the butt ring can sit between the alarm and reel.

I have a Sonik Vader X 2 rod but takes a while to get out the bag and setup and it's always a bit 'wonky' which does my OCD in big time.

I have the sonik 3rod and i would agree not good if don't like wonky. always takes a while to get right. but had a couple of years and is standing the test of time. and it was cheap at the time

I have terrible OCD to the point that i have a spirit level app on my phone. If i cant get it level all round, I actually struggle to fish properly as i am constantly looking at the pod!

The Sonik Vader X 3 is a good pod and the only issue I found with it sometimes is, the banksticks can be too short at the front when the bank has a bit of a slope on it but it is easily resolved by buying some 16mm sticks of the length you need. I also changed the bars on it to 11.5" ones so it is not so wide. Basically all I use is the pod part itself and the sticks, unless the bank has a slope then I replace two of the sticks at the front.
To level mine up, I use a small red plastic spirit level about 12" long from what was Wickes, a £1 which I also use to level my bed up.
Even Gerry endorsed and recomended this pod.

@ zack, I have QR's on my sticks front and back for just that reason, so I just switch the pod around.
@ Fivenil, to totally do your fruit in, sometimes I just swap one set of sticks around when fishing over marginal weed L or R, so one low on the pod and one high.. it's soooo wrong!

Yeah, but you know you'd have copped a look, harm done.
Edit, have a pic somewhere, LH rod up, middle sticks missing, RH stick empty and RH side of swim missing sticks with rod flat....meltdown material I couldn't stand to look at it.

Yes I do, but I am talking about when the bank has a severe slope on it, that just does not work, even more so if your fishing locked up and need to push your sticks into the ground a good bit to secure the pod a bit better as well as some tent pegs over the central spreader bar.
At times I have to replace the supplied sticks with 12" or even 16" sticks at the front and extend them to get my rods parallel with the water, otherwise, the rods would be pointing downwards that sharply, when you get a savage run, they can lift the rod out the alarm at the front.

Ah, right mate, I read 'bit of a slope' but concur on severe ones.
Only 3 problems I've found with this type of pod.
Stability if raised very high, due to small footprint.
Angle of line to alarm head if high. If you raise the inner part of the stick at the front it changes the angle.
The butt of your rod grounding on raising.

Well it turned up. Put it all together and it really is very good. The pod section itself is quite bulky but if you leave all the sticks etc. in place and dont bother putting it in the carry bag, it is literally ready for use in seconds.

Yep, that's the beauty of that design pod. I used to leave mine in my landing mat or chair fully set up until I bought a custom bag for it

Any rod pod suggestions other than the solar universal that are long enough to have the butt ring on the reel side of the alarm? Sticks format ideally.

I was going to say the same thing. I did discuss with Keith a fixed length centre bar as I too like the butt ring behind the alarms. I've not got round to it so far mainly because I have a solar worldwide & sod pod with the extension bar.

I also have the Solar Sod Pod extension bar.
It looks slightly silly when in use doesn't it, but back in those days I insisted on having the butt ring a couple inches behind the buzzer so the bobbin had a nice acute angle to lift into.

Sold my really expensive pod as I hardly used it and sons law needed one for the new syndicate .
