Good Afternoon all,
I was wondering what people use to light themselves for night photography?
I have seen that Trakker offer something called a flood light, Link but they want 50 quid for it.
What are people using on here? are there any Amazon specials? Some that could screw into a bank stick would be ideal.
Look forward to your recommendations.

Amazon and Ali Express all do versions of night lights that are good and a fraction of the cost of branded ones. There was an old thread on here with a link to Ali Express and I bought via that and it's lasted well and does a good job

Go on eBay search Ulanzi camera light their are loads of different ones on their at a fraction of the price of the overpriced trakker light yes the Ulanzi are a little bit smaller but they will still do the job required

Have you got a ridgemonkey light?
I use one of these with the magnetic bankstick holder it comes with on a small storm rod Multi use too, as primary use is in the bivvy.

rhino tech beams are popular with lots of unbranded versions available on aliexpress.
they're ok to help the camera focus but IMO none of them come close to a remote flash unit.

Get a couple of these LINK, one either side and slightly in front of the camera on banksticks and use the camera flash as well. Great for seeing what you are doing before taking the pics as well.
Those are the same as the Rhino ones BTW.

Manfrotta side lights....one on each corner of mat about 2ft away pointing inwards.... i use low setting with external flash but u can use medium and no flash.... havent tried others but can vouch for these rechargable too.

The Ulanzi gear is about as good as you can get for the money.
From what i've heard, Rhino gear is just a UK front for these Chinese made products

Waste of time those lights imo. An external flash is the way to go.

Those lights are designed for videos. I've got some and I've been underwhelmed with the results. With an external flash you can slow the shutter speed right down and bring out the detail in the background, it looks far better.

Plenty of people take stills from videos om their phone and really rate that too. Look outside the fishing world, photographers use flashes for a reason, they are far superior. LED lighting is a good compromise though if you don't need perfect results

Get yourself a godox 860 with a trigger, slap a magmod booby on it and shoot TTl. It gets no easier or better. Pro tog over 40 years, just saying...

Just to hijack the thread. Does anyone know where you can get a light like the rhino beam v2 that tilts other than ali express? Rhino are doing 2 for £56 and when I try and find the ulanzi one that's identical they are about £30 each

Delivery times are the issue with Aliexpress, I need them for next week. My own fault for leaving it last minute
Can only find them on amazon for £25 each, similar price to rhino for 2 of them. Oh well that's what I get for not being organised

I really wanted some that tilt, the one on post 10 don't. I'll be putting them on banksticks so just makes life easier if they rotate tilt etc

It's funny how they fluctuate in price depending on country. I work in Germany and live in France and Gerry's link is €20 and €15 respectively, yet £6 at home.
Due to a bit of indecision and only being able to order one at the AliExpress offer price, I ended up buying one of each, which have now been delivered. The difference in them regarding build quality is staggering. The Vijim product in Gerry's AliExpress link is a quality item that feels solid and well put together, where as the Temu one feels like cheap flimsy rubbish that won't last in comparison.
The caveat to this is that I haven't charged up and switched on the Vijim one yet, but as long as it performs well, I'll be getting another and abandoning the Temu one!

Not having a go mate. Had I ordered a couple of the ones you had, I'd have been happy enough. That one came first and I thought, well you get what you pay for and it'll do the job. I expected the Vijim to be similar so was surprised/pleased to open it and find the difference.
