Constantly kneeling down on gravel my knees are knackered. Does anyone use neoprene knee pads or anything? any recommendations?

I'm a contracts manager for a flooring company and all the fitters wear knee pads, as they are on their knees 8hrs a day every day....ill ask which ones they use, after a quick google they are very similar to FENTO knee pads with the two straps, and the part which ends up on the floor is flat.....
None of them use any other style than this type , from fitters in London to Edinburgh, so there must be something I'm them.

I use the Dewalt ones from Screwfix from time to time in the garden and when doing DIY or crawling in the attic. One thing to watch out for, if wearing for a prolonged time and sweating the wider elastic type bands can become quite irritating to the back of the legs, so much so that if I kmow it's going to be like that I'll use one of the foam mats from screwfix or toolstation, like these. There are cheaper ones available.

Cheers lads, just ordered some cheap ones off amazon to see how I get on. I could do with them for work as well so will upgrade if they are crap.

I've been using them for over 20 years or more for fishing.
The ones that I use are what "SWAT" teams use and are more designed for kneeling on very rough hard surfaces as opposed to ones for the likes of DIY and working indoors etc. They have a very hard "plastic" outer shell and little padding as they are designed to be for protection as opposed to comfort. Held in place by two velcroed elasticated straps.
They are absolute brilliant in the Winter months as not only are they good for kneeling about in the wet, the mud, ice, snow, stones, crawling about the bivvy etc, but they keep your knees warm and I wear them all day as I never know when I will have to kneel down.
If you go on the likes of eBay, there are plenty. Just do a search for kneepads for the likes of military, paintballing, SWAT etc.

Got some working cargo pants with room for kneepads, you just slide them in if you need them. And if you don't need them you have dry knees (different fabric), so very handy all in all.

I bought a cheap five fold unhooking mat to kneel on when fishing.
At work I currently wear DeWalt kneepads, but I definitely wouldn't be wanting to wear them all day when fishing due to the sweat buildup behind them.

I've never found knee pads comfortable for any length of time.
For me they always move about unless you do them up tight, and if you do that it doesn't take long to become uncomfortable
So for me I would only put them on to do certain jobs, for that reason it's easier and quicker to use a kneeling pad

Of its always I'm thr same spot can't you jist use your unhooking mat? Far more convenient than wearing enormous kneepads.

Found some on Amazon that I have on now, they are sponge on the front and just pull up the leg, they seem ok to be honest. Useful at work. Might look for a bigger / better kneeling pad also.

The problem you get with using insertable pads and built in pads etc is, your trousers still get wet and muddy along with over time maybe wearing holes in your knees of your trousers if you kneel a lot on sharp stones and chippings etc. And then you might have to sit with wet knees if you remove the inserts or get into your sleeping bag with wet and muddy knees.
Even small foam kneeling mats are too small, when you are weighing fish, setting up your rods and changing positions etc, you can find that your constantly having to reposition it.
Unhooking mats are OK, but unless you have a spare one, they end up soaked with water when you wet them down to put fish on etc and then your kneeling on a wet mat covered in fish slime.
That is why "Hard Shell" external ones are best, they keep your knees clean and dry, removable, and when you move, always under your knee. From experience I wouldnt use anything else.
And if you ever kneel on a treble hook someone has dropped in a swim, that is when you wish you had some knee pads which was another reason why I started wearing them especially in the Winter months when Pike anglers frequent the bank.

have a look at the kneeling cushions that gardners use - high density foam that is waterproof, cheap, light & small. I have one tucked inside my unhooking mat for catch shots & it sounds like it would be perfect for what you need.

Fentos are good but at around £85+ not cheap. But if your using them everyday it's cheaper then new knees. I find them decent with trousers but shorts the straps are the issue. They are not the most comfortable, Velcro does get nackered over time and my biggest gripe is the length. If you have calf's like an elephant then you're ok but otherwise they are way too big. For occasional use whilst fishing a gardeners kneeling mat would be perfect. Easier to store, light and cheap

I know I keep on about em. It I wore the home bargain ones on bare legs all day today and still comfy at 5pm 👍
