Looking at getting the fox infrared stove & PowerBoil pan.
Anyone got any feedback on this? Any others that are better? Excluding jet oil as I don't like that the stove has to be on top of canister so rules that out for me

I would like to know how it would fare in below freezing temps as it does not seem to have a pre heat pipe ?
and clearly Fox advocating a gas bottle cover dont realise it will make things a lot worse in winter unless you have a heat source in it
if you are going to spend that kinda money and want a stove that will last and last I would look at a PRIMUS Gravity 3 stove top quality and my original primus gravity is still going strong since the 90s will work in any temps too
people including me have recommended BULIN T4`s ( I paid £24 for mine and sold it for £20 to a guy that was stuck when he forgot his stove ) I only bought it as I am a stove junkie
but you would probably go thru 4 or 5 while the primus would still be happily working IMHO

Can't help on the Fox stove but anyone spending decent money on a stove would be far better looking at expedition stoves rather than fishing branded ones. The likes of MSR & Primus as Gerry has mentioned should be top of anyones list, and imo a important factor, there mostly serviceable.
Personally I'd be looking at one that does gas (both liquid & gas) and liquid fuels for total versatility.

I haven't used the fox stove i'm afraid, but I'm inclined to agree with the other guys - expedition brands tend to beat carp brands in this area - I can recommend this one as excellent.

It's a lot smaller than most carp brand ones, so you do need to be a bit more careful, but it'll pack down inside your smallest pan and has a very controllable flame.
As the other poster said, bottle covers aren't always a good thing. Once gas starts leaving the canister, the temp plummets and that cover keeps the cold in. Those chemical hand warmers are a good way to beat a frozen gas cylinder.
If you use a windshield, most stoves are almost as efficient as a jetboil anyway.

I have the Fox stove. It boils water very quickly and packs up nicely with everything fitting in the supplied pan. It's stable, and my Ridgemonkey toaster sits on it fine. Not had any issues (cold weather or otherwise) but I don't see how this would be different to any other stove of the same type. Solid bit of kit, albeit not cheap.

Yeah does seem heavy. Do you not use a barrow though? I do, so I don't care. I've got lightweight fit in your pocket stoves

Not sure what happened to yourself but plenty of people use the fire maple stuff without issue. In fact fishing branded stuff looks the same with carp tax

I posted a video on here must be 5+ years back. Brand new stove, smell of gas, invert the cannister and gas leaking badly, absolute death trap.
The really bad thing, they said it wasn't a fault....it could have killed someone....ffs.
I accept there being the odd faulty item in use, thats life, but stoves should be tested before being sold, clearly this wasn't. That's why I'm not the best fan of cheap stoves.

If you want decent kit buy it from an company that make quality outdoor kit. It will last and perform better in varying weather conditions. I do lots of outdoor stuff and mainly use a jetboil or MSR pocket rocket for that. However for fishing I use a vango..

MSR - excellent quality, great performance premium price
Jetboil - fantastic performance, only good for boiling water as they are too fierce for slower cooking. If you want a fast brew or hot water then jetboil will save you a ton of gas as they are so effective. just dont plan to make pasta in it.

I had one shortly after they came out, it's a decent stove but just couldn't get on with using it for slower cooked food, seemed all about quick boiling to me!
That and I didn't like boiling water in a pan, no kettle shots there without the extra bit.... Lol
