Yes, agree. I think the second book is even better than the first. Some very clever approaches to different waters.

Have to be honest in that I found it really over written to start with, hard reading and some strange use of words. That said, after a chapter or two I felt it mellowed a bit and I think I got into its groove. Having not read the first one I didn't know what to expect but I am throughly enjoying it now. It is totally different to the run of the mill angling book.

I found that I had to read the first one carefully and slowly at first, in order to get used to his writing style. After a little while I found his style incredibly readable and it is one of the best written books that I have ever read. A masterful angler, author and illustrator.

Got both books and I'm about half way through the second. An angler that gets quietly on with his fishing without making a song and dance about it. To be applauded. By Christ, he's caught some fish !

Oh my GOD
saw this post and as a book collector and reader wanted to order them both.
The only shop who I could find with them both was BRISTOL ANGLING.
they arrived in two days, packaging and communication was spot on and they even lobbed in a little something. First time I have used them but BRILLIANT service and the book look wow, that's me sorted until January

Yes, Bristol Angling are very good, one of the shops I use with regularity.

Bitter sweet memories of Savay as I was a Ruislip AC member that lost the fishing on there when Tom took it on. That said , I carried on on a day permit for a few years as it was the most beautiful and engaging lake I have fished in 40+ years. Reading both the books I really enjoy his style , he is or was an all round angler not just a carp angler , so has a deeper understanding of the sport. The language is descriptive and as expected avoids the usual rubbish about quick this , little flick that . I pre ordered through Johnson Ross who will notify you of the final book in the trilogy if you subscribe to emails.

I managed to upset him , I wrote a very polite letter to be considered from a day season ticket ( iv had one before) . I followed up with a txt saying I knew the renewals were all done so was there a chance of a ticket . I also said I knew about the HS2 problems with the carpark but I did not intend to use it as I could park up the road on another water I was a member of . Strange character was not happy and phoned me , I was polite , and I'm not sure he knows the score of how carp anglers try and get onto a lake 🤔.

Wrasbury chapter in 2nd book was up there with the best chapters ive ever read.... really captured the place perfectly.
