Hi guys,
Looking for a versatile pod for all sorts of fishing including France (I live in the Netherlands where I also need to fish over vegetation and stuff).
Only Solar offers such pods and now I am thinking about the Globetrotter or the Universal pod. The Worldwide pod is a little more restrictive, so not thinking about that one.
Which one would you choose and why, please? And also: how do you like/rate Solar's new pods in terms of quality? Any issues?

I had the Worldwide and then added the global extension kit it covered every situation then
but I also bought a Amiaud Carp`o and that was simply brilliant

forgot to say I sold both of them and as I mainly fish a tidal river I have a Prologic TRI-SKY ROD POD
this is a very well made pod and extremely versatile as you can configure it with rods sky high or as a normal level low pod and all comes in a quality case > this video is of the 2 rod but the 3 rod is obviously the same apart from the buzz bars

There are more versatile pods than Solar pods on the market, check out Meccanica Vadese (I have been using the the Nick Evolution since 2010) and Dayko.

Hi Gerry, thanks for that input. I am not considering any Prologic pod, as I would like a stainless and premium brand. I will take a closer look at the worldwide though! 
Hi Robert, thanks for your tip about Mechanica Vadese. I just don't think there are more uglier pods than those, so I don't want to spend my hard earned cash on those either. Sorry, to say.

No worries, I really don't care what others think about my tackle (or me, for what's it worth)
. Also it's always function over form for me, I fish too many (natural) rivers and lakes with vastly different conditions on the bank, so versatility and stability are top priorities

The universal is a great pod and will cover any situation. Solar have really upped there game with the universal and the finish is almost on par with jag. The twin centre bar is a good improvement over the single bar on the worldwide and stops any twist but your handles hit the centre bars, not a big issue but annoyed me a bit. I only sold it as it was fiddly to set up and went back to my jag rp1 pod.

Hi Stuart, thanks for your reply! May I ask, to my eyes the GT doesn't really differ much from the universal pod (could be short sighted): have you got thoughts about to GT aswel? Biggest difference I see are the square instead of round poles, which can help reduce play in the whole rod pod.

The globetrotter is a very good pod and the square box section it is made from does help with rigidity and stop twist.
I haven't seen the new universal pod but do have the globetrotter and a worldwide pod, i have made mods to both of them just a small mod on the globetrotter i fitted the drop in goalpost converters to the tripost uprights instead of the "u" pieces which makes the tripost and buzz bar more secure.
On the worldwide i didn't like the single round bar as it does twist so i fitted two more studs to the uprights and got an extra center bar so now i have two off centre similar to the universal; (but i did mine first) which eliminates twist and fitted the uprights so the reels and indicators cant foul on them.
I still prefer my globetrotter over my worldwide for fishing in europe, if you could get a cheap second hand one with two triposts and both the long and short sticks it would be a good pod

Globetrotter is a tank built to last forever, a mate had one and sold it to buy one of those fox sky pods but ended up buying the globetrotter back a year later, not seen him for some time but believe he still has it all personal choice but I'm a fan of the universal especially the euro version but it not cheap and to be truly universal you need to buy extra sticks but like the globetrotter I'm sure it would last a lifetime

I've got the original Globetrotter, the one with the Tripost at the front, but I managed to get a second Tripost for the back.
It's ok but if you use it for a week, I find the Tripost's start to wobble just a little and need to be re-tightened, it's not a major problem but I thought I'd mention it.

I have had a worldwide since they came out, also some extra long legs, brilliant pod but as you say that is my only criticism. When you have the tips up high, if it's very windy the pod has a knack of spinning round on the centre bar ditching the whole lot in the water!
Edit - Never heard of the universal, just had a google, looks a cracking bit of kit, probably last for years that too, says it's manufactured in the UK

The universal is a cracking bit of kit Chris but a bit overkill for the waters i fish so went back to my rp1.

Sold mt Jag super compact adjustable when I gave up session fishing but kept my euro universal in case I need it on the river or start session fishing again.

I have the solar universal euro. Not actually used it yet but its a quality bit of kit, missions to align properly. Way over the top for UK fishing in my opinion and use my Jag RP1 but for big waters in France it will be perfect.

Every leg has to be aligned level, every leg has to be screwed in, you have to extend both buzz bars and attach them compared to the rp1 which is literally take out of bag open and go its a mission. Still glad I have it but its not as easy as some to setups

It only takes a few minutes once you get used to though, but I would only use it if I were session fishing .
