Just wondering what people think of this tripod not the deluxe one I used it yesterday for the first time my first impression is it's cheaply made and one big take the lot would go over and why o why didn't they make a hole in the block where the 2 spikes come from to put a peg in
Also the buzz bars are wobbly overall not that impressed just wanted to know what others think
I was thinking of going back to sticks

I prefer single storm sticks on the whole and find the Korum Tripod adapter (when used in conjunction with 2x Preston Off box angle locks) and a Fox buzz bar more useful if you cant get them in . . .do also own the Tripod and yes it can be a bit wobbly - nothing that a dab of superglue on the buzzbars and a bungee and bivvy peg around the frame doesnt sort!

I personally think all the korum and prologic river pods are cheap crap. When i fished the trent i had a cygnet skyliner pod which was in a different league altogether but it should be as its twice the price but it was so big and bulky so sold it and went back to fox storm poles. So im with belch, storm poles every time unless your on concrete of course but im yet to fish anywhere i cant get my storm poles into the ground.

I use sticks for my barbel set up.
I have two storm poles so I can fish side by side separate rods when needed, but 90% of the time I much prefer the convenience of a single stick with a double buzzer bar.
The storm pole has a screw end on it so it grips better and doesn't twist around in softer ground.
The angle tilt adaptor is a absolute essential to make sure rods sit correctly and safely on the alarms.
I use separate short sticks with butt cups for the bottom end of the rods, it's rock solid.

I would have to agree. I've never fished anywhere that I can't get banksticks in and I do scratch my head when I see great big pods set when the banks are very soft.
There may be a reason for using tripods that I have missed but I can't fathom it and I've no wish to carry any more kit than I need

Funny how we all have different experiences !!
I have fished LOTS of pegs where trying to get a bankstick in amongst the built up rock filled banks is nigh on impossible
I would always if possible fish storm poles on the Tidal Trent where I fish and found straight points go in much easier than trying to get screw points in amongst the rocks too
as far as Tripods go
I did have 3 A solar world wide WITH the global kit
that I sold as it was heavy and overkill IMO
I have a Mk2 Korum river pod and a Prologic Sky pod BOTH PODS do a brilliant job if you take the precaution of a bungy and peg round the back leg this makes it impossible to be towed away by a passing boat
the difference between the 2 pods is the Korum is super lightweight and your fishing in no time

its PLENTY strong enough YES IF YOUR DOPEY AND LEAN ALL YOUR WEIGHT on it it will slip

but trust me a double figure barbel will bend your 2.75lb test rod double on it and the legs wont slip mine never has and Ive caught dozens
the Prologic sky pod is a much heavier stronger more versatile pod that takes a while to assemble and pack up but can be configured like a conventional pod or a sky pod

I saw your pod on another thread and bought the same one and I take your points on board I can put a bungee on it but the point is we shouldn't have to do something to the pod korum should have put something on to lock it down
Such as a hole in square block to put a peg through
The other thing others have said about gluing buzz bars can you explain thanks

IMHO There is not a pod made that used on a river should not have the rear leg pegged down
and if there was a hole for a peg I would not use it !!!
if you see my picture I can swing around the strap until I get a good fixing if you had a hole you would be to restricted if there was a rock under where the hole was for instance

the buzzbar has a screw in square block I glued mine in as otherwise on a savage take it can twist unscrew this prevents that happening

Thanks for help I think I will persevere with it as you said depends where your fishing I cannot get sticks in full of stones really hurt my hands I tried last season hammering them in still no good the stones move and sticks are wobbling that's why i bought this pod

where I fish some of the flood banks are built up with stone blocks and rocks impossible to get sticks in

but I have learnt without any question screw points are a lot worse to get in in these type of banks a normal point you can wiggle in between the rocks and sometimes get one in

I have one and its fine though I use sticks and a pod.. you do need both should the situation arise. I fish the upper Trent so not the big boulders like lower tidal reaches.
You can buy an adaptor and use other buzz bars on them. Push the sticks in a bit or anchor with bungee. I wanted something light and not the scaffolding jobs you see.

I bought one, the clamps did not grip the square pegs right so i took it back and swapped it after being assured there was nothing wrong with it and then offered a different model from another supplier that was cheaper but better!

Checked the new one in the shop and it still had some pay in it but not as bad as the first one. After using it I would say it's a very good concept but very poorly built. After being disappointed I contacted Korum and sent them some pictures to get their take on it and give them some feedback, after a bit of email ping pong I ****ed it off

Would I buy another, when the mark 10 comes along and the clamps grip the buzz bars nice and tight, possibly, you have been warned, check it before you take it from the shop, I could have had two bad ones of course lol

I used mine well OVER 3 seasons and literally dozens of double figure barbel bending my 2.75lb rods double and my Korum river pod was rock solid as per my previous posts in this thread

of course to enable it to be super lightweight and compact super quick to set up and take down
its not going to stand up to some **** leaning on it trying to make it slip is it ? and why the **** would anyone want to ?
a F******g fish is not going to make it slip ? or move FFS ? some amazing comments on here
by people that havent actually used one they have great imaginations is all I can say
I sold my Solar worldwide with global kit as it was a heavy overkill and did f***k all my Korum could not do
unless I was carp fishing with 3 or 4 rods then you WOULD need something more substantial I agree BUT IT WOULDNT BE CALLED A RIVER POD

The concept is very good. The quality is poor, or is two just a coincidence?

I see they have brought out a deluxe model now, double clamps and centre bars, might upgrade

I also have the VERY versatile TRI-SKY ROD POD 3 ROD
(you can fish it like a normal low pod or one of the most stable rods skywards )

this is a heavy duty pod absolute quality but its heavy and takes time to assemble and to pack away in its superb carry case
BUT
I found myself far and away preferring the speed and lightness of the Korum mk2 River pod

to the time it takes to assemble the Prologic I was fishing 2 rods almost before my mate had assembled his Prologic

not a boast
but I bought the Korum mk2 River pod in June 2016 when I returned to Barbel fishing until late 2020 November using it 90% of the time I caught over 30 doubles and lots more smaller ones as you do
on the Trent Tidal mostly few on the middle

my Korum is still as good as the day I bought it so fook all wrong with the quality IMO

of course if you silly enough to think you lean on it to push it in the ground of course it will slip ? but if you use your brains push the lower sections in then ! extend it no fish in the river will make those clamps slip

I have had a narrow boat pickup both lines while I was peeing my 2.75 rods bent double runners both screaming my braid was never gonna break the clamps did not slip

I would have lost everything if I had not had the rear leg pegged as per the picture I posted lower down in this thread

Fished the Trent at the weekend, I agree, think it's best to peg the rear end down, I also agree, very versatile, lightweight and piece of piss to erect and take down, I love it but as I said below, I was disappointed with the float in the square blocks

Think I will end up buying the new one, looks very good

The only mod I did
was to glue the block thread as its possible on a savage take for the buzzbar to twist and unscrew a bit

I have two set ups, one with front runner rests for days and one with alarms. I was speaking to a mate and he says that you can buy the spare square blocks, I was going to do this and have the alarms on one and the rests on the other, buy another set of buzz bars and then I can just swap them out as required. After too much thinking about it I might buy the new version. I have also been fishing two rods, might by a third, plenty of room in a lot of swims, seems a lot of folks are carpfishing style on the river nowadays which if this is the case I will need some 3 rod bars to fit

Pegged down with alarms it would make for a great carp set up for people wanting to get the tips up high
