Not sure which to go for sticky baits krill or active bait solutions hydra k.
Used krill few years back, never used hydra k but heard good things about it.
Recommendations/advice please. Thanks

Do you know what is being used in quantity on your chosen venue ?
You will probably find both these Good baits are being used by someone there
Use either with confidence.

I rated sticky krill for a long time but the Hydra k is a better bait imo.I fished a sticky baits krill and a hydra k side by side and the hydra k produced more fish for me and not just on one venue

I have been on the Hydro K for 2+ years now and have done very well on it, its a softish bait so I use Hard Hookers as hook baits. I also have had good results on this bait and a PB from my local waters not long after starting to use it. One of the plusses in using it is the price
compared to Sticky Baits, but it does not compromise on quality one little piece. this is my current No 1 bait for sure.

I'm not sure you are correct with regard to price.
Angling Direct do 50kg Sticky Krill Active for £424.98
Active Bait Solutions Hydra K 50 kg for £425.00
Costs exclude postage

For me ABS and the reason is simple. You'll be getting freshly rolled bait, not a bait that's been sat in angling directs warehouse for god knows how long and in and out of freezers.
Also worth considering sticky are providing bait to AD at trade who are taking their kings ransom before selling it onto you. Stands to reason you are going to get better quality bait if buying direct from manufacturer and cutting out the middle man. That's my take on it anyway.

Fair enough. AD will still be taking their cut though and it won't be rolled to order

Shows you expensive Geoff has become considering he has hardly any overheads. I like both companies but think Geoff is expensive now.

he's not expensive at all when you look at the quality of the ingredients in Hydra K - for years people expected ABS to produce baits for £4 a kilo - which to be fair they did, but the quality of the baits (in my opinion and I know them very very well) wasn't on a par with the original baits they did like Mallarkey. Over time he had no choice but to drop out some of the higher end ingredients to satisfy the market. He's gone full circle now and is making a really high quality bait (reflected in it's success and catch rate) but the price reflects that.
Makes me laugh people saying £7 a kilo is expensive, when most of them put a crate of Stella on the barrow before anything else.......and Hydra K isn't a bait you have to pile in to work, i've caught shedfulls of fish on it over the last few years just feeding a handful over each rod.

I've been using A.B.S for years and as someone else has said I was starting to get worried about the prices not going up, In a market where ingredient prices were going through the roof. You get what you pay for from Geoff, your not paying a shops mark up, which is massive
Not saying Sticky baits aren't good, but I will stick with A.B.S.

you aren't paying any marketing fees with Geoff - it's all word of mouth. I hate to think how much a kilo you're paying Sticky for advertising and marketing costs!!

Been using ABS for years even when Simon I think his name was (TT baits) was rolling for Geoff and I used to get them off him

Just to chirp in since I used to be super into my bait making before I moved to Canada... to be transparent I haven't used either of these companies in over 16 years and only ever used the early on sticky baits pop-ups etc. when they first started up..... When I did live in England and I closed down my bait company and after speaking to Geoff at ABS numerous times I can thoroughly say that the quality of his baits and the formulations are top notch, he has been making bait and formulation the bait recipes since many of the people on this forum were in diapers, his knowledge of bait ingredients, how they compliment one another, the quality of the ingredients, the nutritional profile and the nutritional balance of the baits are second to none. His reputation in the industry speaks for itself and he would certainly not compromise that with anything less than awesome. I used to use his baits all the time and would have no hesitation jumping straight back on to them if I had to return back to the UK.
Now I'm certainly not saying that Sticky baits don't also have great baits and great formulations/people formulating their baits but for me I would go with ABS purely from past experience and knowledge. Not that my two peneth means anything but thought I would throw it put there anyway.

I've been using ABS now for over a decade and can thoroughly recommened their products. Quality is clear when you handle these baits and you know it's fresh - they roll to order, rather than having stock sitting on tackle shop shelves.

I'm quite interested in this bebate. Here's a question, if you could get sticky cheaper than Abs would you still go with hydra?

I don't use either as I make my own bait but to answer the question.
Within reason I would not skimp on the money if it gave me what I thought would be a better bait / a bait I had more confidence in.

YES I would , I'm lucky though its only a one hour drive from my door, freshly rolled, so will not be looking to change my choice of bait company anytime soon. However I have used this company for around 20 years now and will continue to do so.

Not commenting on either of the baits in question, but on the subject of price....
Quality bait doesn't have to cost more - I'd rather use 20% less of a bait that costs 20% more than compromise.
A real quality, no compromise hnv bait sold at £8 or £9 a kilo is not a high profit margin product at all. Bait that is sold for much less than that is designed 'down' to a price.
Cheap bait may well contain some decent ingredients, but to get the price down it's cut with cereals or bread - that's a fact.
2.5kg of really good boilies plus 2.5kg of decent pellets is cheaper than 5kg of crappy bait, and a better way to spend your bait money in my opinion.
