I am looking for a Mainline for snag fishing.
Braid is banned so either a heavy mono or fluorocarbon.
Which one is best?
Casting no more than 60 yards.

Shimano Technium in 15lb
I'm using Fox Camo Soft Steel in 0,41mm (23 lb) on a lake which is "contaminated" with lots of fallen trees on the bank as well as in the lake, lots of water lillies and mussels, and I am very satisfied. 8 out of 10 hooked fish go into the trees, but the line holds up very well. Very occasionally I have to cut off a meter or two, but that's it.

Make sure it's at least 0.40, only 60 yards afterall.
Also, probably best to go for a low stretch line with snags.
Korda Touchdown in 15 or 20lb would be good choice - sinks, low stretch (relatively) .
I use the Green, recommended.

If you can't use braid 20lb touchdown in brown would be my choice too. An excellent line, doesn't cast too badly either.

18lb Syncro XT (original) tough as old boots, very good in heavy weed/snags

I used to be an avid user of the original technium, incredibly strong I found.
Have you ever tried pulling for a break when snagged up/ up a tree? Terrifying!

I hate to admit this but that's happened to me this morning when I clipped a branch accidentally and then i proceeded to uproot a tree. Incredible line, terrible cast 🙈

Korda Kontour takes some beating. Used the 12lb for ages. Don't let the 12lb breaking strain put you off. It's incredibly strong. Also has very little stretch being a fluro, ideal for snag fishing.

Used to love a spool of green BG. Not the best for snag fishing though - far too much stretch in it - @ 60yrds you'd have to fish well off the snag to compensate. Try it - I think you would be surprised.

As I posted earlier Syncro XT (original) is about the best IMO
HOWEVER I must tell you about original TIGER LINE FLUOROCARBON
I was fishing a lake after a big storm and to my left about 40 yards a tree had come down a few days before the bailiffs had been out in a boat and trimmed it quite a bit but had to leave the real big branches until the weekend
anyway I hooked one of the lakes big fish and the rascal kited round the other side of it in an futile effort I put the rod above my head trying to lift the line above the tree
this was a big mistake as the line then straightened and pinged up towards the bank and the meatier branch
then it began the fish pulling and the line seesawing on this branch that was around 8 inches thick
I got down to the tree could not reach it or free it it must of been a good 15 mins and another member turned up thank god when he saw the problem he said dont worry got a big saw in the car then hero he was climbed out and sawed thru the bloody great branch upshot was we landed the fish
NOW !! WHEN i LOOKED AT THE LINE it had long strips coming off of it hanging down in places like a mop head !!
and yet when I pulled it expecting it to break like cotton ! it didnt break I was gobsmacked !!

If you can still get some, Berkeley CM90 takes some beating. I've used it in 15lb on the tidal Trent which is full of big rocks for 3 years now and not lost a single fish due to a cut off, straight pull when snagged and any hook I've used opens before the line goes.
Tried 15lb Korda Subline and binned it after one session. Noticeably thicker than the CM90 but kept coming back shredded and I had to cut off lengths of it several times in one session - I hardly ever need to do it with CM90.

As someone who's fishing is 95% short range snag fishing, I feel well qualified to answer this.
Having tried and discarded most heavy mono's, the obvious choice for me is Gardner HydroTuff.
It's the best out there.

I would advise to use a 0.4mm line or thicker.
One of the following lines are awesome:
Gardenar hydro tuff
ESP synchro XT
Ashiman ganster strong
If allowed, I would also use a 10-20m long mono snag leader with a thickness 0,6mm
