I've got to get some new different bait sorted out. As the bait company I've been using closed down a while ago and I'm on my last kilo of the bait. I see there a new cell bait out ? I used the cell years ago and done okay on it. I was wondering if any of you guys are using the new cell and what's it like

Do you mean the shelf life version? I've not used that, but still use the freezer bait and it's as good as it ever was.

depends what your priorities are really mate, i just checked and that baits about 12 pound a kilo if you buy it from the shops. I would rather order from a bait firm themselves and get a better price normally. I dont use them but many use DNA and they have post free deals that seem very convenient and do shelf life. I know cell has caught thousands of fish and many of the big ones too so if you just want to buy a few kilos at the shop i know the cell would work also.

Perhaps you mean mainlines essential cell? Its a yellow bait with a fruity smell. It works but hasnt taken off in popularity like original cell did, original cell still catching a lot of fish on a lot of waters.

Gonna stick my neck out and say that most of the commercially available bait is much of a muchness, all has to be consistent, and rolled easily by machine in huge quantities. I think Jim Shelley is living proof of this, like or loath him he catches loads, been with plenty of bait companies each new one being the best going bait. I've used boilies from several different companies over the years and can't say I noticed any difference in my already poor catch rate. I even made the PeteB mix for several years and did just as well on that as anything else both here and France. I now use whatever I can get the best deal on.

Let me guess your more the type who wanders round a fishery and sidles up to anglers saying ‘I get my bait for £6 a kg I can get you some, it's mostly soya flour and sawdust but still'

Correct you can get a decent bait for £6-£7 a kg if bought in bulk. Got to be a mug if people want to pay £14 a kg. They should be wearing a mask and striped jumpers selling bait at that price

In todays cost of living crises, 13.99 for a loaf of bread is starting to look pretty cheap....
If the costs keep rising, the bread crumb fillers may be to expensive and they have to look at cheaper alternatives like fish meal etc
