New carplounge rt7 just popped up on there fb page. God know how much it is, probably have to sell a kidney but the raymarine and autopilot built into the handset looks great. No extra tablets or tripods.

Yes, i though so too. It's convenient not to havt to faff around with carrying and charging tablets, WiFi extenders and tripods.

you can still put that on a tripod. would be difficult to save locations and send out boat throwing that all in one control on the ground whilst faffing with the boat.
But its cool. For me personally not enough has changed to warrant the outlay if im honest. Still same GPS,Motors,Accessories etc. Plus I use my S8 Ultra tablet which is awesome as 14.6" oled screen shows much more clarity than what that small screen will show. I use same tablet for watching sky or movies etc so would take it regardless
Do like the RGB lights though

Is there any remote that is? Cant see it ever being water tight with movable switches and tablets that click in/out leaving power connectors on show. From my little experience with bait boats not one remote has ever been. Would been good if it was though

Not knocking 'innovation' but what is the specific advantage of integrating the screen into the handset? Once you've found and mapped your spots most of the bait boat operation is via the touchscreen (previously tablet) so why would you want to hold this in your hands when the operation is effectively 'thumb free' or does the whole handset mount onto a tripod? Your also looking down at your handset and not at a screen with the boat itself on the lake / in the foreground / perspective! In addition; thought one of the main advantages of Raymarine for bait boats was using a tablet to give you a bigger / crisper image - why go smaller / heavier - seems like a backward step for me . . . .

The Tablet can eject from the handset which is also the receiver box. So in theory you could still just use the tablet after you have set up your spots.
I do agree though doesnt warrant the extra cost outlay as the rest of the boat uses same features as RT4. Not like the receiver box takes up any more space with tripod as it goes in the same bag as the boat. Plus as mentioned the screen is smaller also. For someone with a V3 looking to upgrade or someone wanting a CL boat the RT7 will be the go to boat but for people like myself with RT4s cant see the benefit of upgrading

Agree - seems like a somewhat wasted design exercise to me - as a designer myself the idea of a screen that pops out of the handset is cute; however form should always follow function in my book - not the other way around. As stated - no benefit = no point.
