It has now reopened but is iced over i believe so not fishable at the minute.
Was a lovely lake when i fished it 6/7 years ago but haven't been for a good while.

By all accounts the 'big names' have been in the more favourable pegs since its opened back up leaving us minions in the limited leftovers

Cannot see how, its on the gocatch app now so you go on and either book a watercraft swim or a bookable swim, maybe a case of getting in and booking early otherwise the swim you want is gone but it's open to all.

The GoCatch app wont let you book the normal bookable swims for some reason. I've messaged them but no reply...

Probably because the swim app has virtual 'buckets' in the better pegs, for high profile influencers and sponsored anglers.

Yeah I'm only a couple of miles away, I was thinking of giving it a go - but on the app, I can only book a watercraft swim, I couldn't figure out how to book anything else..

I sincerely hope it does not end up like Clawford Vinyards and Rettallick,Frontier city lakes with those mind blowing awful lodges on stilts on the lakes themselves..
Just my humble opinion,lodge disease ,there is nothing more ruinous ..

Thing is there are so many easier ways to make money from a lake than running a fishery. Anyone investing two million quid is going to want some return and there is only so much room in the market for really expensive fishing tickets.

Or someone with 2mil wants a nice house and their own lakes.
You can understand why more lakes go for “syndicate” or lake exclusive. No aggro with people moaning about the other anglers, no having to get up to do the rounds, no having to collect day ticket money, can vet the people you let on there....

I know a couple who bought a lake with the intention to turn it into a fisheri, they've realised that they can make more, and easier money from paddle boarders and families picnicking.
People will pay as more for a few hours of boarding than anglers will for 24 hours of fishing.
Same for a private waterside picnic spot for the afternoon.
