I've been looking at the Trakker winter 2 piece suits. Angling direct sell a lighter coloured one for £50 and a newer darker coloured one for £100. What are the difference? Or is there better non fishing branded ones out there?

Loads of better non fishing branded stuff out there, just depends on your budget. I'm a big fan of the snugpak gear myself.

I can vouch for the Pro-Logic bib and brace. Kept me nice and toasty last year when I ventured out.
I don't have the full green suit as I have an older RealTree Pro-Logic jacket. Good combination IMO.

I think Gerry was talking about the Pro-Logic suit rather than the Trakker Danny as he has raved about it also on here a few times.

If thats your budget then keep an eye out in Aldi, they do an excellent thermal hoodie and joggers, they also do salopettes and coats which should do the job.

I have the Aldi salopettes and they are still going strong after 4 years of use and abuse. Very good value for money. Warm and waterproof, it's all I want from them

Has anyone got any of the Trakker winter 2 piece coat and trouser ranges? Are they worth the money?

no I wasn't mate as I think the Prologic is far superior

Ordered the Prologic Suit and the Trakker Core 3 Piece last year, I sent the Trakker back, the Prologic is better for me

I have an older prologic one. They are great but I'll only use mine if it's really really cold. Any other time and I just cook In it. But it's a proper winter thermal suit

I'm not a big fan of winter suits find them to hot and I just cook in them even in minus temperatures, also find them to big, I prefer to layer up but apart from my hoodies, joggers and t shirts I don't use fishing brands. I have decent thermals I got from millets and a north face 3+1 jacket plus some north face water proof trousers I purposely bought for fishing yeah it costs alot more BUT in my opinion way better quality and it lasts, also like sealskinz hats worth investing in decent gear for the winter and what suits you

Not waterproof. First time my mate worse his Trakker stuff, he got soaked through. Utter crap, unless you intend not to go out in the rain. If waterproof is needed, you want a minimum of 25k rated. Fox is probably your best bet and then just layer underneath. Else Simms do some good kit, but it is expensive. The best always is.

What's the sizing like on these ?

One of the reasons why i kept the Prologic and not the Trakker is that the Prologic is not so bulky vs the Trakker, my clothing size is M I bought the Prologic in M ​​​​and it fits perfectly

In found the sizing about right HOWEVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there are different versions of this some a lot warmer and heavier what you need to check is each model has a different GSM !!

the one I own and in the link is the warmest with a 160gsm 100% polyester wadding
but other variations like the Prologic HighGrade RealTree Thermo Suit have 120gsm

Prologic LitePro Thermo Suit is the one i have (150gsm)

I prefer to layer up myself, and it's non fishing brand
The base layer is a norgi army top, with a zip up fleece on top. If I need a waterproof jacket, it's the army Goretex jacket, or a Hoggs of Fife Strathmoor jacket.

Bottom half is normal combat trousers with Strathmoor overtrousers on top.

Bootwise I am still using TFG Extreme boots, the current closest equivalent is probably Jack Pyke Tundra Boots.

Last time this year I used the winter suit it was 2°C at night I only had an t-shirt underneath it with my hoody it was too warm, the Lite pro is 150Gsm, a 160/180 seems overkill to me + the nice thing about the Lite pro is that it doesn't feel so heavy and isn't bulky

This is the one I'm thinking of going with due to it being lighter but still not fully decided. I've currently got the old Trakker multi core suit that's genuinely only been used 3 times and the stitching has come away in the pockets, far to bulky as well.

Ridgemonkey jacket is good! K2 XP one i think it is

Actually, you're wrong. If you look outside the clothing aimed at carp anglers, you will see brands like Simms, Vision and Grundens - all are clothing companies who sell fishing specific clothing. Way better than anything you can get from anywhere, as they are designed for fishing. Most carp stuff is useless crap for the average fella. Of course if you are a fat fecker, then anything will keep you warm. LOL. A lot of non fishing branded clothing, as good as it might be, is not designed for fishing and wont take the wear and tear. I have a couple of Simms jackets and bibs, as well as a Simms primaloft lined bib for winter in the boat. I can stand all day in the rain. wind, sleet and even snow, yet still be dry and warm. Most carp fishing jackets and bibs will wet out in minutes and aren't that warm. Check out Simms gear, available in the UK from a number of stores. Not cheap, but the best never is.

Was looking at Simms g4 pro waders and wading jacket yesterday.some of the hunting brands are good for fishing as well if you choose carefully. Harkila,ariat,sealant,.

I have the fox salopettes, they're pretty decent.

Always makes me laugh these threads when you get the standard response of, "don't bother with fishing branded clothing, it's all crap" ...... ......it's just like everything else, either fishing or non-fishing, some things are good and others not so...clothes, cars, food, beer....some are good, some are overpriced rubbish......

Some fishing branded clothes are very, very good and perfectly adequate for 99.9% of conditions we angle in. Some of the Nash ZT range is very good, the Fortis range is excellent, (although they often get a free pass because it is Snugpak) and the OMC Cubera Puffer jacket my mate was wearing when we went a couple of weeks ago was superb...although I would struggle to bring myself to give a single penny to anything associated with Ali Hamidi...

I have found snugpak and army clothing much better value for money than fishing brands.

Trakker suit for me all the way. great value for money and super warm!
