I've been trying to get hold of Dymag tackle for months now and no reply. Would like one of his nets made up, I do hope he still trading?

What a shame that is to hear. Always liked his gear and wanted one of his nets but could never afford one, now I can I can't get one anymore! Typical!
Who does a really nice quality stiff net? You'd think a decent net wouldn't be that difficult to achieve but so many I've seen are awful, floppy arms and poor block design where the arms can pop out. My friend had a top of the range free spirit and I was not impressed
Think I'll have to go down the custom route but I can't seem to find seem to find a spreader block design I like!

Its amazing what **** gets thrown around .Graeme (dymag) has like the rest of us rod builders have and are suffering with price increases stock issues etc .If harrisons are struggling to get supplies and they have been then we for sure will struggle.The profit in custom rod builds really is low and margins are really tight.rods and nets for dymag were always a sideline he had much bigger fish to fry automotive industry etc.I very much doubt he shafted anyone and i know he had personal and health issues.

Graeme is one of the best producers of Carp fishing custom products that has ever been and could not be more helpful in the dealings I had with him I was sad to hear of his health problems and supply issues

I hope my last post didn't come across as insensitive, I wasn't aware of possible health issues and I wish Graeme all the best.
Although the CB nets may be very practical and well made I've always thought they look so ugly! Sorry cb fans, shallow I know but if I'm paying upto or over £200 for a landing net I want it to look like a work of art like Graeme's did. Hence saying I'm probably going to have to go down the custom route, just need to find the right builder.

It's fishing, not fashion.. if you want functional then there is no better . He will do them with whatever colour whippings you want too. If you want any something that looks nice but is more expensive and not as good then get something else lol . There's no guarantee a custom will be what you want

Have a look at the matrix innovations 3k camo net decent net light weight and nice ridge net pole and arms either sold by Johnson Ross tackle or any tackle shop that sells matrix gear under £150 aswell

Surely most rod builders can get hold of the same carbon as dymag did? Or was it exclusive to Graeme? If I can get the same handle and arms I'm half way there. Then just need to find a spreader block I like and the right builder to do it. That's the plan anyway, I can't see why it can't be done as long has the carbons not exclusive

Harrisons made the original blanks for graeme and no they wont make them for anyone else just the same as they wont sell you the blanks they make exclusively for me.

The only handles harrisons make now are the torrix and aviator.They used to do a reverse taper on a ballista blank but ceased some years ago .This was the original handle on chris browns nets.

That has always been the issue - spreader blocks.
The trouble with any 36 inch plus net is they are always gonna be weak not many other things in life that have 1/36th supporting the whole darn weight - some nets even less. For me the Mk3 dymag block is as good as I've seen both looking and functioning. I have quite a few nets and the one I have most ‘confidence' breakage wise was the really old Nash pursuit drilled ally block. The arms are about two inch supported fit snug without being tight.
Since the world went minimal it's a pay off. I know that the pressure on a net isn't much but even a ‘shake dry' is enough to splinter many. If you find the ideal block - let me know.

Agreed they are better than a lot, with these you are putting near equal pressure on both arms to form the net, rather that one in and then the other causing a bias of pressure.
The original bowloc when you couldn't detach just the arms was brilliant and forward thinking.

I have made quite a few using harrisons torrix and aviator poles and arms and custom angling solutions spreader blocks but only really to match rods i have made but similar to the dymag they can be a pain to take apart.i still think Chris browns are one of the best available.

Yes C.B. Net does look a bit " Agricultural" but it is the strongest I've seen. Some nets you see being used on carp videos look like they are going to snap just from the pressure of moving through the water. Although I suppose a fine mesh wouId exacerbate that.

Were his landing net handle mandrels at Harrison's? My original net was made at Harrison's but my Stalker net was made somewhere else, he did tell me where but I can't remember.
Although Graeme's nets are considered things of beauty, they are designed to be the most user friendly nets out there. Definitely not just fashion items.

Harrisons ceased producing the 2 piece handles some years ago. Not sure if the mandrels for those have gone from the factory now.

Ah right it was only the two piece handles. In that case, yes the mandrels would have been long gone. It must be seven or eight years ago that I got mine and that wasn't made by Harrison's.
