I know Marmites been a popular inclusion in meat and fishmeal baits historically. Anyone used or using Bovril beef extract ? Ive never seen it until today and it immediately struck me as a possible ingredient. Any users ?

only with some hot water and black pepper during the winters. Can't beat it!

Absolutely no help, I have never tried it in or on bait.

Not as good as marmite ( yeast extract ) but does work alright in liver based baits.

I'd choose vecon over either of those two though, shame about the price being a tenner a kilo practically now

ive not tried the Bovril from the jar, but i have stalked alot of fish out using the Bovril cubes. Just microwaved them for a few seconds to harden them up so they stay on the hook better

any other 'meaty' additives worth looking at. Liver is the obvious one but anything else ?

Maggi seasoning is s a great addition with a nice meaty type of aroma/taste.

Ketamine derivatives, not meant but savoury would be soy sauce and other vegetable protein hydrolysates, some yeasts have a meaty smell.

Maggi, fish sauce & thinned marmite to soak boilies in

Back in the day on easier waters I caught a lot of fish on red pepperami dipped in a jar of marmite.

and its the basis of Keramine Hd

We used to use Multi-Meat by Just Baits.
I doubt if it's still available but does anyone else remember it?

They use it to make booze in jail, hence you can't get any. The jars would probably kill somebody with a good clump round the canister in a sock too
