Got a session booked on here next week. Just wondered if anyone had fished the place and what their views were. Also any tips.

Another Ruined lake. Filled with fast growing aweful fish.

There are still some originals in there and most of the stockies are 20 ish so not a pb water really.

It's all about the coin,...the ethos and individualism in angling has been lost..
It seems..in general..
It's got really ,really boring and samey ,rock up ,gravel or bark swim,name of swim on a board..a whole list of rules and regulations ,blah ,blah...boring ,boring boring....
I'm not your average angler,been fishing or out doors stuff all the time since five years old...my whole life spent out side, regimented,controlled pastime,no surprises,everything based on how pimped yer VW van is ,or whether you've got the latest clothing..yep that's carp fishing 2022..Reset....!

While I admit we can unload behind our swims on my syndicate, all cars have to be put in the car parks, which are spots out of sight of the Manor House, no concreted real car park.
There are only a few 'named' swims, The Dam wall, Marker post, Black Poplar and The Stump.
Uncaught fish, along with some good looking stockies.

I must admit I saw a DVD on RH Waters years ago, and I never really got interested in the place. There are some waters that fire the imagination The Mere isn't one of them that fires mine.

My problem is they cater to new / or what I'd call less passionate anglers. And not the ones who love a bit of history and the mystery of finding out what's in the lakes.
Big pale things that grow well to fast. Not even a nice shape. I get there's a market for it but dig holes and fill it for all I care. Just don't ruin old stunning waters.

Just going for a social. Not normally the type I fish. Not going for a pb either as that ain't going to happen there. Was just seeing if anyone had fished it

Wrong forum here mate. As you've found, you'll only get replies from ‘pukka' carpers who sit on a 500 acre pit for one bite every 10 years, anything else is cheating for wrong ‘uns.
The recent Nash podcast with RH was interesting and it sounds like it'll be a well run fishery with plenty of bites to be had, ideal for a social which is exactly where he's pitching it.

go and try it for yourself i go there find it very pleasant, if you are after a rowdy place then do not go, not huge fish but all nice scaley ones ballifs very friendly and well kept.

I would be absolutely amazed if this wasn't a really well run fishery with good quality fish, RH fisheries have a very good reputation for this type of fishing, good fish and plenty of them. They are the gold standard for day ticket, bookable session fishing.
Not my type of fishing at all but I can appreciate that many people do want these types of venues.
My issue with this particular fishery is its location, the Midlands, especially the west Midlands. There really aren't many "ordinary" fisheries where carp anglers can join and have a campaign on and to loose the mere was a blow to the many people fishing it through its previous leasee a local club. So while I wish Rob Hales all the best with his venture next time buy/build a fishery down south, up north or just about anywhere but the west Midlands.

That's exactly it. And the way it all happened. Digging up roads and pegs while anglers were enjoying the last of there ticket. With no care at all.
Nothing against these type of venues but they ruined an already fantastic venue. As for the fish just not for me at all. I'd hang up the rods instead.

the island fisheries is run by C M Fisheries and not R H Fisheries two different places CM Fisheries is in wiltshire and RH Fisheries in shropshire.

You will get a lot of negative information on here mostly by people who have never stepped foot on any of his waters. One thing is for certain I can guarantee it will be a very well run fishery. I will say one thing RH has some of the most beautiful waters I have seen. The sitch is truly an amazing place to spend time and Acton is absolutely beautiful, Weston park is also a lovely place. You certainly won't turn up to find rubbish all over your swim the lakes are immaculate. I haven't personally been to the mere but I would happily fish it with a few mates and enjoy it for what it is.
