Hey guys - I mainly just use bank sticks but lately I've been going to places with hard ground or wooden pegs where they won't work.


I wondered if anyone knew of a rod pod or something else that simply takes bank sticks and converts it into a pod suitable for more places.

I know I could just get a pod and switch between the two but worth an ask.

A set of stage stands and a digging stick could answer you problems

Its why I bought the Sonik 3 rod Vader pod, if the ground is soft enough, I will use the 4 sticks and two bars as a goalpost set up, if the ground is too hard, then I use it as a pod.

The pod itself will also take any stick that has a diameter of 16mm so basically, 6 x 16mm diameter sticks and the Vader pod part itself would be a an option if you use three rods etc

Thanks - I wasn't aware of stage stands but they seem to be a good solution for wooden pegs.

Cheers - I will have a look into that.

My advice would be to just get the best rod pod you can afford, chuck it into the front of every swim you fish and forget about the hassle of of sticks, buzz bars, stage stands, hard ground or platforms forever and use your energy on more worthwhile things, like watercraft or dozing off in your chair.

Tbh that's not a bad shout. I'm trying to resolve an issue without wasting my perfectly good bank sticks but this is indeed much simpler.

I understand, but you'll end up going round the houses, never being satisfied, buying all sorts of gear that isn't quite right and then eventually you'll buy a good pod and wonder why on earth you didn't do it sooner. Exactly like I did!

Its a bit pricey but the Jag Nano & Micro pods fit the bill.

If you already have 4 banksticks, you just but the main pod bar and the stage stands and voila you have a pod.
Packs down really small, super lightweight and well built.

That does the job, but yes very pricey.

I've just bought the sonik xtractor pod. I haven't used it yet but watched a video on YouTube about it the other day and decided to go for it. You can use it as singles, a pod and it has screw holes in the base ti screw it to wooden pegs. Does look a decent bit of kit and was £95. Got it off Amazon, ordered Sunday and came tonight. Using it tomorrow so will let you know what it's like.

I use Korum Leverage 45cm bank sticks. Nothing special but decent for getting my buzz bars set nicely.

Not sure what the diameter is on these sticks - also if you've got the screwpoints then that may also affect the fit to a alternative suppliers pod. I think Korum do a goalpost style pod - go for that

Sonik xtractor pod or pro logic k1 low profile.
Both less than 100 quid and do the job perfectly.

Looking into stage stands.....do they take normal bank sticks or only the blanks they seem to sell for them?

Most will tale various bank sticks, only issue i imagine you will have is if the sticks you have are particularly wide

Thanks bud. My worry was the length of the stand compared to the length of the spike on the bank stick, as in, would the securing screw have enough 'purchase' on the bank stick and secure it strong enough.

Guess I'll try it at a local tackle shop 👍🤞
