I have free spirit xs full cork rods.
I'm moving my solar adjustable rests to my kids set
For reasons.
So first time in years I'm looking the JAG ones look tidy.
I presumeni want the large stainless ones. Do they come with an inner? Or will I need to buy some if so what size do you think?

large lockdowns for Cork and thick dupion, small lockdowns for abbreviated and shrink handles, each pack of inserts come.with six different sizes. you will need to buy a pack of inserts for each rod unfortunately. hope this helps

I went the other way and now use the solar,I prefer them over the jag lockdowns

I'm keeping the Solar Braders certainly . But they are handier on my kids Dwarf rods as he had two different types of handle.
Previously when we all went together I was using old u rests for his that were way too loose.

You need the large lockdowns. Just pick what colour insert you want and try the different sizes until you find the one that fits the handle the best.

The Jags are tidy but I wouldn't get the big ones for cork as I'm not sure you would want the cork handle to rest in them (probably mark the cork?) just the threaded collars of the rod.
Has to be green

My rods are well over 10 years old I never even wipe them
One of the set of 3 never gets used. I've only got cork as that was what was available. So I'm not too fussed by marks

I have the JAG lockdowns for my cork rods and they are superb. The different size inserts mean you can get just the right degree of hold on the rods. I also have the rod lockers which take some getting used to - yes I've picked the rod up a few times without releasing it!! These are ideal for snag fishing as the rod is going nowhere when combined with the lockdowns.

Thanks but I was told in ad that you had to buy different lockdowns to suit different rods I have cork and another set of rods I have shrink wrap they said I've got to buy too sets small and large

The small lockdowns are designed for shrink/abbrev handles and the large are designed for cork/duplon handles, you'll probably find the large lockdown with the smallest insert is still too big for shrink, depending on rod of course

Ok thanks why didn't they make large ones with different inserts to fit all types of rods sounds like another carp fishing rip off to me having to buy to sets I will look at solar but I was told to adjust them smaller or bigger you have to take them off the adjustment is underneath friend said he got rid it was a faff

maybe mine are an older version of solar adjustables but they adjust with thumb
screws on the sides.

I have 2 sets of rods, one full shrink a the other abbreviated shtick. Not a fan of duplon or cork so saves me the faff of adjusting the rear rests. The metal grip bits are fairly pliable so you may get away without adjusting depending on the difference between the thickness of each rod
Pretty sure the Korda lot use the solar rears over the jag ones, despite the singlez being made by jag. Perhaps that's a performance thing?

They are the pre P1 versions I believe. Probably worth a fortune now if the rest of their kits second hand price is anything to go by.

Yeah the original thunb screw ones came with different size spacers you change to suit, I've still got a set somewhere but use the new ones now.

If you did that they would not be aesthetically pleasing. Therefore tackle tarts would not pay top dollar for them.

It takes no longer to take them off loosen the grub screw and reset than taking off the old type thumb screws and swapping the spacers over.

Sounds to me that I've never used mine properly.
I dont have an additional inserts and when I wanted to use one on my kids Dwarf abbreviated I just tightened it up as.muchnas possible and pinched the inserts together lol

Interesting, the ones I have came with about a dozen washers a piece! Does the same job I suppose but I prefer the thicker ones in your pic for sure.

I think solar changed them as the first 3 i bought had the spacers as shown in glenn's pics. A couple of years later i bought a fourth one which came as you describe with a load of standard washers

Well mine are getting a new lease of life on my kids dwarf/my compact setup. Supporting two different style handles. Now that I know about taking out inserts they will fit like a glove.
I've fitted the stainless jags on my mps trident and they look seamless the large insert hold the cork handle like a glove. Just enough stick on the grip.
I treated him (me really) to 2 additional atts to go on his
Pod and connected to my reciever.
