Looking to buy a new 13 foot rod bag/holdall, the rods have 50mm butt rings. Any recomendations which ones would offer the best protection ?.

Can't help with the recommendation on the bag I'm afraid.
I only have the one and it was included with the rod when purchased and has no name ...only 13' embroidered on it.
However...to increase protection I cut 35mm sections from closed foam half inch pipe lagging then cut a slot in the inner all the way round and V out the slot with a craft knife. This slips over the ring and is secured with a band.
It gives much more protection to the ceramic than the ones commercially produced.

Nash subterfuge is the best I've seen for protection and remaining quite sleek. Bit pricey but catching one in a sale make it a bit more palatable.

I have the korda compac rod sleeves and they are incredibly well padded. If the compac holdall is the same padding (which I assume it is) then it will be one of the best I've seen.

I've the trakker NXG it's well made and fine for 13ft rods.
Bought mine years ago, not that expensive either if your on a budget

I have a Daiwa Infinity one mate , does a great job , holds 3 made up with 50s etc etc , also 3 unmade, also well padded.

All my luggage is speero these days but I still use Cotswold for rod protection as I still think they make the best rod holdalls.

Thanks for the tip as never looked at them but mentioned them to someone yesterday and he said oh I've got a new three rod one you can have for £50 so bought it and have to say on first impressions it better than the cotswold trident I have.

If I had to criticise anything about it, the net pocket is slightly to short and a tight fit, it would benefit fron being slightly bigger and would be nice if it had a waterproof lining with drain hole at bottom. If this was addressed it may well be perfect for me.

Actually, in light of what I said about the net pocket, my net is the esp hearn with 44inch arms and deep mesh so a standard 42 with shallow mesh may fit better.

I ummmed and arrrred about a rodbag for months, then bought the korda compact 13ft..
I really like it, the inner pockets straps on the outside, everything is just right..

Agree even the handles on outside of reel pocket and base are perfect for putting in the car, can see an angler has had input in the design.
