I'm new to online forums so appologies if things don't run smoothly.
My question is this
Is it really safe to use korda Durakord lead free leader with the korda inline safety kit as if the mainline breaks the lead will fall off but the fish will be towing the hook length with plasic insert and the leader.
Surley this cant be right ??

I think you've answered your own question.
I believe that the chod has to be the safest rig out there. As safe as the chod is, if your line parts, say it's trailing 50yds of line, somehow that fish has got to travel 50yds to the where the line parted, throw in a few weedbeds for good measure? Again, I believe that any rig where you're able to drop the lead is a potentially lethal rig, due to the fact that there's no anchor point for the lead, which would give a fish the chance of freeing itself by traveling up the line and eventually getting away.
Personally, I always fish with a fixed Heli set up for the rigs safety aspects in an attempt to mitigate any potential harm, even then, simply the act of a hook and line is a danger to fish.

Just had to look these up. When did korda start charging so much for leads? Not bought kirda leads for ages, last time they were about £1.20 each

Would this not be the case with any lead arrangement? If the mainline breaks - say 20 foot from the lead - then an inline drop off, lead clip or running rig would all still potentially leave a fish trailing around a hook length and leader / mainline.
Mitigating against a breakage in the mainline seems like what you should be aiming for. Apologies if I am mis-interpreting what you're asking.

Point taken....your quite right it could happen with any line.
I was thinking that if it's going to break it will likely to be at a join ,re swivel or leader .
Like you say best to evaluate the water for snags and don't fish too light a setup.

As has been discussed on this forum many times, the safest arrangement is a helicopter set up where the lead is NOT dropped.
This is the only set up where the fish will be left trailing only the hooklink.

It is not the only set up that will leave only the hooklink. There are ways of fishing both lead lips and inlines that will result in this end.

Safest as long as the top bead isn't rammed onto anything and can move easily

Fishing as they do in multiple other disciplines, with a hook link light enough to give a sporting chance to the fish, would be a start.

lead clips & inlines should only be used with tubing or naked, a well set up helicopter is only way a leader should be used IMO. Cant belive none of the companies & named anglers dont seem to advocate this.

Totaly aggree with you re heli rig.
It's a good thing many waters now have a ban on leadcore .

Couldn't agree more, add 20lb mainline and many problems will disappear. Not fishing into snags with multiple rods on alarms, especially at night. Not fishing into 10 ft of solid weed full of zebra mussels and banning lead core(plenty of good alternatives now). All would definitely help.
Question still stands. Would love to see descriptions of the rigs mentioned.
