Teflon free Winter suit and other winter clothing without Teflon is this available in the carp branch?

Seems that aquatexx bivvy's and derivatives such as Ventec also contain Teflon, so sleeping bags with Aquatexx and such also contain Teflon?

It is confirmed by DuPont's own researchers that PFOA is toxic says enough I think, on a bivvy okay but to wear it on your skin for a long time or to sleep in it doesn't seem wise to me.

Teflon has been used for years in many applications including non slip pans as well as food production. I think of it was dangerous we'd know about it.

Watch the film Dark Waters and then you'll.find out how *safe* the stuff is.

Considering how it was proven with DuPont's own research that entered into court documents and the subsequent fines they received that it's still allowed to be used to this day is staggering. Teflon is as toxic as f..k.

Strangely enough I've read that it's not so bad with frying pans, just as long as the coating doesn't come off and you ingest it. Clothing and things that come into close contact with your skin is the problem or the chemicals in the water.from industrial processing.

The chemical C8 which is known to cause cancers like testicular cancer and birth defects is estimated.to be in 99% of Americans blood and the same in other developed countries. Dupont have changed from the C8 chemical to their new formula called Gen X with similar results found in studies as what what found in C8 in relation to it's poisonous effects.

I think if people researched everything they use in day to day life they'd find allsorts of nasties in use in manufacture. Some severe paranoia going on

Agreed. Maybe if you were wearing a Teflon winter suit next to the skin for 24 hours a day for 50 years plus you might have a point but yeah you're not going to be so chill out, guess that means you don't use Teflon coated hooks too?

That's not paranoia being concerned about Dupont and its dodgy chemicals, it's hard facts with the related court cases and subsequent fines to back it up.

Not so long ago it was said that 1 in 4 or 25% of the population will get cancer, now that estimate is down to 1 in 2 or 50% of the population will get cancer. Now I'm not attributing DuPont's chemicals for all of these cancers and being the driver, to what proportion DuPont's chemicals are to the overall numbers is anyone's guess, but to just shrug it off and suggest that concern for such things is being paranoid, come on.

This should perhaps be in general conversation category, perhaps it's best you go sit in a padded room and never leave. You can't live your life scared of everything that could happen to you,you could go out this afternoon and get hit by a car or have a crash.Life us too short to worry about it all,you are here once so enjoy it and what will be will be

Genuinely I'm not sitting here like literally shaking, far from it, just pointing out the reality of this gear, that's all.

I've always thought that such things like Climate Change™ is a scam, concern about C8 and now DuPont's latest iteration is of very real and grounded concern much like Monsanto's (now Bayer) Roundup and what that does to the environment. As I've said before, considering the increase of cancer in the population that 50% will likely get it in their lifetimes, that's something worth thinking about in a rational way and as to why those numbers of 50% are so high and what the direct link is.

Good point about skin cancer, although I'd say that would be down to a weakening of magnetic fields due to polar shifts (actually happening) rather than Climate Change™ as the later supposedly is down do heating the atmosphere up and an increase in Co2 (been on a flat trajectory for the last decade so I've read recently).

I've always thought that people have got too much on their plate/have little influence with everyday living to contend with or care which is understandable (not directed at anyone at all) and when people hear of yet another thing that can possibly kill them etc, it's like one big collective yawn, I do it myself, you know like 'fat is good for you research has found', then the very next week fat causes cancer or whatever, it gets all so tiresome and also quite negative. There's a few things which I've mentioned already that I do believe are of legitimate concern. I do find it rather strange that in particular when it comes to cancer it seems there's a push to find the cure, never to deal with what's actually causing those cancers and dealing with them in the first instance.

I know you're recovering from what happened not so long ago to you which I hope you're on the mend with and things can only get better 👍

I think they've been trying to put people off smoking for a while now, as well as warning about protection from the sun.

Im with braders, i couldnt personally care. If you read into everything thats bad for you you would be locked up in the house drinking evian and eating avocados. Your only here once so im making the most of it. Ive just ate a lovely omelette out of my teflon frying pan and I might even have another one tomorrow 👍🏻 Lifes to short to worry about things like teflon imo.

This thread is a very interesting example of new information, the reaction to that new information, the cognitive dissonance expressed after contemplation of that new information. Fascinating, simply fascinating...

Yet not about using carcinogenic products in your food, nor environmentally damaging products in the air you go through, neither about how plastics get into your food from plastic containers or clingfilm.

You know about air pollution, yet not what is necessarily in the air.

Big corporations do not care as long as they make money, to hell with the people and the environment.

Personally I prefer non non stick pans to cook with.

If someone is concerned about Teflon in clothing we should accept their choice.

They should accept that most of us don't give a flying **** too.I thought for Teflon to be dangerous it had to be used over a certain temperature and I'm sure it is quite a high temperature too.Mobile phones are supposedly dangerous,we still all use them daily more so than wearing or using Teflon.Where do you draw the line of what you worry about, one thing is for sure in life and that's death.Enjoy it well you can and make the most of everyday

Authorities have been banning carcinogens from food, cosmetics etc for years. It was generally reported as 'EU bans our (insert product name). No doubt more could be done though.

Plastics and food is difficult. It's bad in itself, but if using plastics extends the useful life of the food, then that has value.

Big corporations simply do what their shareholders (the people) want - earn money. Maybe one day they'll realise it's not the be-all and end-all and they'll act more responsibly.

In the meantime, we're free to make choices - if we can afford to.
