Am I missing something or have people gone mad? I was looking to sell a pile of old solar bobbins, clips, chains, hangers and wotnot - basically a load of stuff I found when helping my mother with the house clearance after my father died... and WTF! There's two bobbins for sale, £300! A Solar hat anyone? £75! But what had me really amazed, three manky solar line clips, £100! I've posted a link below. I have six of those, three unused in their original packaging. Surely none of these items sell at these prices? I don't see anyone bidding for them, which makes me suspicious... what's low down on all this nonsense? To think I was thinking I'd be lucky to get £25 for all the bits and bobs I have!

Last couple of years solar has gone mental. There's a dedicated facebook group for selling stuff. It got a bit silly as people were manufacturing stuff and passing it off as 'new old stock'

Pretty sure it started with the old baiting needles, I still have one, I'm keeping it as a retirement nest egg

My friend has or did have two bin bags full of the old stuff from solar a lot of it was for the v10 alarms etc but I'm sure he's got other stuff also

Mate it sells. I got rid of a load of bobbins and bankware (the crappy carbon effect stuff too) and it went for silly money.

I'm a millionaire....!!

Still got n use all my solar stuff...and.....I polish it up once a year..

Sell some of it, and treat yourself to a nice 9 ft ledger rod with a swing tip

I've got a few old original items from Solar, Sod pod with front and back tri-posts and middle extension bar, Worldwide Globetrotter pod, a sharp shooter throwing stick still works but the clip that held the two carbon arms has gone missing somewhere I wonder if Solar will have a replacement spare oh and two original baiting needles, this time next week I'll be a millionaire

I had the original bankstick, arial bar and monkeys, sod pod etc all long gone now. Quality engineered gear, unfortunately designed by an engineer especially the stuff nowadays. The little scalloped grooves serve no real purpose over the knurling apart from looking pretty!! Had to smile on the last Kev Ellis video, when he was queuing for the tunnel behind a new Porsche, “that geezers just sold his Solar bobbins” 😂😂
Can't fathom why the old stuff sells for so much...it must be carpy? Obviously I'm not!!

I got a solar bucket hat free with a mag subscription years ago. Was too small for me so I never used it. Got £50 for it on the solar Facebook group

Bought a job lot of solar bits and bobs for £30 a few years ago. Got a set of bobbins I use, sold the rest for about £100 in total after splitting into different lots.

Thanks guys. Good grief. Who's actually buying it? They must have a screw loose. There's currently an eBay listing of bobbins and wotnot, bid is at nearly £700. 'kin hell. I agree with what others are saying, it wasn't even made that well. Guess I'll make hay while the sun shines and stick my stash on eBay at some point.

It's because all the new gear out ain't new gear out and you can't get anything from China at the moment. Retro or old school gear is in because fishing was really the only thing allowed during lock down and with carping comes camping....imho

Its not just solar gear, i saw a set of black emblems on there for £750. They were £59 to buy new when they were out.
