Hi I'm new to carp fishing, have a low budget at the moment under £150, have been shown “Kits” on eBay and Amazon with 2 rods, reels, bite alarms and rod pods etc was just wondering are they good to get started on ? Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the Forum.
A question worth asking is have you done any coarse fishing at all? If not, I'd suggest you start with a float rod and reel and get yourself down to a commercial fishery and learn the basics.
If you've had some experience of coarse fishing and want to progress to carp fishing, then unfortunately, £150 doesn't go far in terms of carp fishing tackle. Having said that, I'd recommend having a look at second hand gear on Facebook Marketplace or equivalent. Try to stick to decent branded stuff like Daiwa, Shimano, Okuma, Fox, Prologic, Avid, Sonik, etc. If you're not sure what you're looking for, ask any fellow carpers that you know. Alternatively, either look on here using the search function or just ask a question.
If you're looking at new kit, I reckon you're looking at £60 for 2 basic branded rods such as Daiwa, a similar amount for some cheap Okuma baitrunner reels and £35 for a pair of Prologic BAT alarms which people rate on here. Then you'll needs other odds n sods like landing net, chair, buzz bars/pod, rig bits, bait, etc.
Personally, would steer away from the cheap sets off Amazon & ebay, they won't last 5 minutes.

Appreciate the response, yes I have experience course fishing I usually waggle fish on the local pond.
I appreciate the equipment I have looked at may not be the best quality etc but everything else I can find is taking me way over budget, for example the sonik rods once you add in the reels and other bits it goes nearly to £200, I was hoping to spend £100 on the two rods with bite alarms then anything else on other bits like good line and rigs etc ? Would those rods not suffice for a year or so ? Not looking to catch 20lb+ carp just yet I'd be targeting smaller carp to learn the art

You'd be better off buying one rod setup of reasonable kit and then adding a second later on rather than buying those cheap eBay or Amazon kits.

If you go on the Tackle Box website they have the Darenth Valley rod range and some Korum reels. You can get a rod and reel set that will get you started for less than £70 quid. These have their SAH branding which offers extra back up for the products. At the bottom end of the market, that's probably as good as it gets

Have a look at the Prologic COM Raw rods, they're around £40, and combine with an Okuma Carbonite reel which you can pick up between £20-30. I bought a set of these for my daughter and they're a nice little budget setup

I'd also agree with this - the tackle box don't sell cr*p gear - the darent valley rods are excellent value

Appreciate that, that setup does look nice, I was just thinking the two rod setup would give me some more chance of catching and learning before I spent a bit more on better kit etc, however I will consider this kit as the rod looks lovely and seems good quality

Just fish one rod specifically for carp and continue to use your waggler, best of both worlds and your not sat behind static rods.

Mate stay away from that, when I started i ordered a kit with everything to get started, the kit had the same rods and same reels you show on the link.
The rods i would say that could be ok for a start but not for a long time but them reels wont really land a mid double !
Like other people said before,there are way better options for not much money and you wont be having the need to upgrade "soon".
I still use some of the NGT stuff from that kit from a few years ago, landing net ( will use until it breaks
) and carryall bag still on top condition !

I have to be honest with you mate. You are not going to get a decent reliable 2 rod set up for £60 if you are buying new. Can be done second hand but you really need to know your stuff. Easy to get ripped off. Good luck and tight lines

I'd slow down a bit. What about a net and mat? You can't fish without those.
You want to master feeder and bomb fishing. You'll get a reasonable feeder rod, reel, line, net, mat and a few terminal tackle bits for that £150 and learn a lot more than sitting behind some 2 Bob ‘carp' set up.
The smaller fish you want to learn with are much much easier to catch this way or float fishing too.

I did mention that's why I have a budget for the rod itself as I need the extra money for tackle and bits and bobs such as the net etc

Far too heavy for a beginner chap. Get something more along the 2-2.75lb TC. The tackle box range mentioned will be hard to beat

Found a diawa black widow g50 11ft 3lbs TC ? That's a bit more in budget than the one on the tackle box site

Still very over gunned for smaller carp mate. It's worth a look on eBay or Facebook for something used that's in budget and a bit lighter, also have a look at the sonik range. They are generally very good value for money

You said earlier you aren't fishing for 20s.yet? You can't pick and choose what you catch lol. If there's 40s in the lake then you'd need to be geared up for them. But will be very over gunned for doubles

Depends more on the total weight on the end of your line and how far you want to throw it than size of carp, within reason of course.
