Iv purchased new reels and looking for recommendations on some new main line.
I used to use fox soft steel camo but the last spool I used seemed very stiff and didn't knot very well.
I was looking at sensor in 15lb but struggling to find any stock.

3rd vote for the ESP. It does everything I need of a line, sinks, casts well (I am not a long distance caster but it's fine up to the 100 yards I fish at most) and is very abrasion resistant

15lb Korda Subline - just the best. Low memory, great abrasion resistance, good knot strength, sinks and casts well. Good longevity too.

Thanks all, managed to grab the last ESP Syncro XT in my local shop
It says on the box to soak for 24 hours.
When spooling up is it label side up in the bucket?

I put mine in a plastic cereal container with it still sat in the water and have it coming from underneath the spool.ESP did a video on you tube showing how they recommend doing it

Agree with the Syncro XT. I've found it likes to be wet and performs & behaves much better that way. On one of the previous line threads someone gave a genius suggestion (sorry, I can't credit as I don't remember who it was), which was to get one of those wrist sweatbands, soak it, pop it round your spool before loading up/leaving home and by the time you're at the lake & set up, your line is ready to go.

Still use Berkley Big Game, no reason to change for carp fishing.
Bulk spools available cheaply 2,600 yds I believe I buy normally.

Personally found that the Gardner Pro twists quite quickly.
Been spooling reels for years so it wasn't how that was done and have been using my Emblems for a good few years too. I also avoid using drag etc wherever poss.
CM90 for me is perfect

Never had that problem to be honest, BUT, I don't play fish off the clutch, nor use lead clips and allow as little line off the Baitrunner as possible.
I personally found using run rings that line twist is reduced compared to semi-fixed leads😉
I also put the line in a bucket of water, and spool it onto the reel however it comes.

Gardner pro or any other line for that matter does not twist quickly unless you are putting twist into it.
It seems that people want to blame the line for the twist when it simply isn't the line. This starts with how you put the line on your reel and then how you use it and with what type of reel - baitrunners put twist into line and showboaters using a light clutch also do the same. It's also good practice to use a twistbuster every now and then.

Some lines are far more prone to twist though Andy, all will twist but some far more easily than others

Totally agree, use it for all my mono spools. i just get one size breaking strain down from what i normally use as the breaking strain is understated. i.e. 12lb breaks at 16lb. tackle box line tests have info on it.

i find taking all the end tackle off a winding through fingers and stretching works wondered.
did it to some 15LB CM70 and transformed it.

i fish without tubing so use 15LB even on my light gear so minimise lifting scales
