Maybe mr Hamidi should use a chunk of his investors money to buy them at a bargain basement price. I'm sure with his profile he could do something with that brand and he's expressed an interest in getting into fishing technology, plus he said he doesn't want to compete with Korda (see how long that lasts) and obviously at the minute they don't do alarms (yet)

I don't think they are Ian. Wolf International Ltd is in administration, but Wolf Europe Ltd is still going strong with Richard Fox at the helm. They changed their name to Wolf Europe on social media some months ago. It looks like some kind of strategic change.

Intriguid by these, bought the fox rx+ when they came out for £500 but prices have shot up and a mate wanted them and was willing to pay £500 and offered a good deal on these. Bit reluctant to change but as these icon's are a modern fox but made in the UK and come with a four year warranty curiosity got the better of me. Size wise people say they are huge but they are similar to the rx+ but with more features and they feel more robust. Loved my original fox rx digital's with roller and vibration sensing and these icons are the same. Time will tell how good or bad they are but they will get used heavily next year on a new water.

A lad on one of the waters I'm on has these.He loves them and I must admit the build quality is superb,the only negative is the amount of batteries needed.I guess all the functions they have they need the extra juice,the pictures don't do them justice.In the flesh like you say they are not much bigger than the rx+ (which I use).I have been tempted to get some,I await your feedback

Three AA's each alarm and four in the receiver, thousand hours on standby per alarm and 500 hours for receiver. If these prove reliable I think they will be unbeatable but as said only time will tell but wolf must have confidence in them to offer four years warranty. You can set it for sensitivity level on the V setting from min to max. There is a dial. However the system is intelligent so can work out if it's vibro that is occurring first rather than the roller wheel moving....

I quite like the look of them. There shape reminds me a bit of my daiwa sensitron alarms i had as a kid. Do they have a polyphonic beep like the rx+ alarms?

Tone has a lot of adjustment but yes from memory very similar and drop back tone is very noticeable from forward tone. Led's can be adjusted from dull to burn your retina or anywhere in between. Volume from zero to wake the dead, I was shocked at how loud they can go.
Won't be fishing with them unfortunately until the new season starts next June. Hope to be doing five nights a week then so all my kit needs to be up to scratch.

No doubt a very impressive box of line beeping tech but until they take the Halloween mask of it and give it a face lift they will remain the fat ugly girl at the school disco🐷🐖 so unless wolf are capable of making silk purses I don't see much use for there sow's ears😂

Do any bite alarms look good, umm not in my eyes but give me function over form every time. The shop I bought these from have all the bite alarm heads lined up in a row next to each other and the blandest looking in my eyes is delkim, just a plain flat ish black box.

I would prob go with the cheaper receiver personally as dont like the idea of the screen on the dearer one. Its a week point for me as think it will mist up and a weak point for moisture. Quite tempted myself but love my txi d's after massively falling out of love with my txi's due to water ingress issues the d's have been faultless and delkims customer service is a huge plus point for me.

Customer service plays a huge part when buying alarms that are so expensive and such an important item, you need a super quick turnaround if you do get a problem and not waiting months to have something resolved. That would put me off straight away mate.

👍🏻 Look what happened to ace, best alarms going but vanished. Wolf are a bigger company than ace mind so might last a bit longer but in reality i cant see enough people buying them to keep them in production as the general opinion on them is that most people hate them which dosent bode well for longevity.

Just the one set for me but all 3 heads had to go in for water ingress in the first 2 years. When they returned the third they kindly let me know I'd need to send the receiver in for an update too. Couldn't wait to see the back of them

I must admit i was very wary about buying the the new txid's after two of my last txis failed in the rain but ive used the d's since they came out soley on the river trent for barbel in horrific conditions and i havent had a single issue with them and fishing the mighty trent is probably the biggest test of all. So i cant complain this time around. I was delkims biggest hater but they have changed my hate back into love.
Whats the difference between the two receivers goose other than the display? I really hope they last as british made is a big bonus for me and they tick all the right boxes.

Screen just allows to to veiw what your doing when setting the alarms up and scroll through the history of head activity.
Is the trent day ticket? May have to come up and maybe get old geezer and doin a brew and yourself together for a social.

👍🏻 Yes loads of it is day ticket. I usually fish the a1 pits stretch which is day ticket as well. You never know what your going to catch from a huge barbel or 30lb carp or a big catfish or sturgeon, all adds to the excitement. I havent been able to go since we got the puppy and hes to hyper to take fishing at the minute. The speed hes growing im going to need a two man bivvy to accommodate him, hes only 20 wks old and he was 28kg yesterday.
I had the two rod set in my basket just before and nearly pulled the trigger but think i will weight a bit longer 😀 £450 seemed a good price. I did sign up to there news letter as it said an additional 5% off but it wouldnt accept the code when i entered it. Just watched a couple of videos of them on youtube and there so much easier to change the settings than my delks mind 👍🏻

I emailed four tackle companies last night regarding alarms,one have replied.It was Wolf which has shocked me they say any issues with Alarm or Receiver has a turn around time of 5 days

They do look huge on videos but when on the bank they are not really.Its only like mobile phones,at one point they were getting smaller and smaller.The latest phones are bloody huge but rammed full of technology.If the Wolf alarms are made in Great Britain at least should not have to wait too long if there are any issues(unless the parts still come from China)

I would imagine a lot of the electronics inside come from china as thats where they all come from. They will just be assembled here.

Size i agree they would look better if they were smaller but then you wouldnt be able to get all all the components inside thats needed to for all there functions. How does the vibration sensing actually work with the roller wheel? Would the wheel not have to be locked to accurately sense any vibration across it? Or is it not the contact with the wheel that senses the vibration?

Yes they do look better. Is it not just luminous paint on the dials though. I agree the silver decals are more subtile. I dont think you will ever get those now though and if you did if o e went wrong you will get the newer version so wouldnt match.

They are a little chubbier than the RX, was wanting to downsize a little, I fancied the new Nash ones due to the the more compact size but after watching a video with all the button pushing I thought that's a no from me.

I know you can spend time setting up at home and then switch on for a lot of sessions but anywhere else you wanna change em it's back to manual to read up every time.
That's why I think the Icons are good you can set everything up from the Hubb exactly how you want it and you can see what the settings are.

I'm on the edge of getting the qi + hubb. I'm getting a bit bored of the delkim tx d and having to refer to a Manuel if I wanna change anything. The only thing is putting me off is the Size and apprence of the heads. But no.where around me stocks them so can't look at them in person.

Is the battery life the same as they say mate? I remember my original fox rx receiver used to eat batteries every 48hrs even though they said it would last months. The hubb must be quite harsh on batteries if it needs 4 batteries.

The later RX receiver battery life was much longer. Or if you had the original MK1 version there's a modification that can be done to make battery life much longer. Dalectronics done mine.

Lots of opinions on how they look and what batteries they take, but does anybody know how the vibration and roller wheel sensing actually works? Is the vibration sensed over the wheel? How does this work if the wheel is rolling?

Unfortunately they don't have the stock 3 + hubb. Cheapest I found is johnsonrosstackle with carpfix 10% off. I'm still really on the fence about them.

The betalights are pricey for them mind £25 for two 😳 not that you really need them but those two empty slots for them would play havoc with my ocd 😀

Also my custom illuminated bobbins are due for receipt today I think so will be posting up so pics & feedback on FB group if interested.
Lastly I have potentially sourced some bespoke high quality leather cases hand made to order. This guys work is incredible. Not cheap but highest standards from what I can gather. He does some more popular receiver covers now but if enough interest will make up for the wolf HUBB

Not sure why don't you ask Wolf directly as they are probably the only ones that actually know.
Probably most anglers are more interested that they have both rather than the technical side...plus they might wanna keep their secrets in this regard.
My guess it's a tacho generator using the wheel.
I can say they work in harmony together and are each separately adjustable with the Qi. So if you prefer the vibro (snags etc) turn that up and it'll overide the wheel more and vice Versa.
System has been excellent for me so far no false bleeps like the Delks
PS we aren't experts on here mate so you won't always get every answer to a question!!!

I saw the leather pouches on fb but was a bit wary about the leather retaining moisture when they are wet and on the alarms as leather is a pain in the ass to dry once wet and goes hard

Who wants to leave a £200 receiver in the rain and mud. Think the idea of the covers is to prevent scratches and knock damage which the leather covers achieve fine.

I didnt mean by leaving it out in the rain, i just meant by just sitting on a bivvy table in general with condensation and moisture in the air, will the leather not get damp?

The guy at the shop said for the extra cost it was not worth me getting rid of the alarms I have and the Wolf are big and a heavy alarm and so is the receiver.I was surprised like I say as they had the 2 rod set in stock,he did say they have been fairly reliable and not had too many issues with them

I would imagine that might be the end of wolf if they do. It will be a shame if they do as you can tell a lot of thought has went into there alarms and they look very well made. A bit competition for the big boys is only a good thing as well as keeps them upping there game.
