Only any good for hard ground (I've got one). Absolutely awful on soft ground, they're too narrow and sink in. Perfect if you're pushing on a nice track though.

I find them easier on soft ground than a wider tyre as it cuts through the mud easier

Same here bud miles better on soft than the wide all wide are for is stability I think

I have the carp porter one. It's ok but a ****ing rip off mate. Go down the garden centre and get the same thing for a tenner

Cuts into the mud and sticks. If the mud is an inch deep, fine. But deep mud is a nightmare. A wider tyre digs in less and is easier to push.

Ticker,I had one of these,I used it for a long time until I found pools of water in the storage room,simply put I found when wet the puncture proof tyre soaked up water,then as it dries,leaves a big puddle on the floor,I went back to a on purpose slightly under inflated pneumatic tyre,which didn't get flats,mind you I didn't get flats in the first place...so the jab proof tyre was a waste of spondoola....

I actually found the opposite ,even In deep soft mud. Bigger tyre still sinks, and creates greater resistance therefore making it harder to push

I use stuff called oko on all my off road tyres. £10 worth will do half a dozen barrow tyres.

It is a rip off, but personally I couldn't be arsed with the messing about. I hate the puncture proof wheels anyway, it's like having a pneumatic drill in each hand on hard ground

Well logic says if the mud is soft enough for a wide tyre to sink in, then a thinner one will sink in even deeper...I was at Cromwell last winter and the puncture proof sunk in so deep I could barely move it. Plus they're solid and rattle everything to hell.

No logic doest say that at all. If the mud is deep enough for a wide wheel to sink then it will be harder to push due to surface resistance.

Agreed its certainly possible to overthink everything in a simple pursuit like angling. Common sense, observation and experience are all that's necessary really to be successful and enjoy it.
But can't let the science comment pass. Everything modern humans are, society, lifestyle, business, industry, materials, manufacture, food, agriculture and the energy needed for it all are the result of and are utterly dependent on science. I grant you its not all good or positive but overrated. No, can't say that.

You're not wrong mate. But you only have to get a puncture half a mile from the car once to make it all worth it

In other news, it's ok to prefer thicker or thinner tyres in mud guys. There really is no need to justify which you prefer or why the opposite is worse.
I personally couldn't care less if it's thick or thin as long as it doesn't get a puncture
