Evening gentlemen,
I have a set of three older Shimano ultegra 5500 xtb reels.
They're In perfect working order but I feel I should get them serviced .
On each of the reels there is a small crack in the same place on the rear housing going up the arm ( only cosmetic ).
I'd ideally like this replaced if possible, I know it's a big ask due to age.
Are there any people / companies that you would recommend me to contact for this?

Felindre innovations (swansea) I've sent several sets of OLD shimanos there for service/repair, no complaints and v quick return.

I see your in Norwich Knobbys Reels in Lowestoft is brilliant, he advertises on Facebook and recently brought my 12yr old 5000T back to life.

I bought my set in 2008, never greased / serviced mine (and one got completely submerged for about 10 minutes and they've been faultless perhaps I've been lucky.
If they are working fine I'd be inclined to use the cash for something else.
If it's not broken not worth fixing.
Just my opinion.

Tackle box highly recommend..

Very reason prices too.. I think it was around £100 with new parts

Sorry don't want to hijack the thread but I have never serviced my reels much, how often should I service them to keep them in good working order?

You'd wait until something is wrong, then think about servicing them? Not so sure that's going to be a cost effective approach.
Depends of course on how much use your reels get, but I tend to service most of mine once a year, which is a complete strip down, clean and re-lube... I do it all myself, then ongoing maintenance is constant in terms of just keeping them clean and functional.

The Tackle box do a basic services as of 5 years ago, although ok do specify what it is you want done. THE other thing to note is shimano only keep spares for 5 years from what I understand maybe wrong.
For a full service Garry at custom reels. And I state this as I've stripped mine down, own a sonic bath and spent several hours speaking with Garry whilst equally speaking with the tackle box. I've replaced or re greased ball races removing the cir clips etc. The box does a 1/2 decent job relubricating things just not to the degree I do and especially the lengths Garry goes to. as mentioned state what it is you want doing.
