I keep my rods made up between sessions and will be using the kamakura hooks this season . With the points being delicate I'm wondering what people are using on their made up rods to protect the hook points from turning over , thanks .

Trakker hook up is just doing fine. A piece of foam protects the hook and a plastic hook can be clipped to the butt ring.

Rubber boilie has been my go to for years, same ones have lasted ages 🤪.. Tried the trakker hook ups, if your hook pulls to far into the foam if you snag the line when unpacking etc or the foam wears out the hook point hits on the plastic dulling the points over, pop em in a rubber bait they always come out as good as they went in... And cheaper,

I never keep rods made up ever since one of my free spirit rods ended up with a bust tip,I always take them down doesn't take long to retie them tbh especially if I've made bags up ready to go and answer to question swan filter tips or the fox hook box

Now I've moved away from sharpening hooks having done so for 30 years I use hooks that are sharp and my favoured rig is the multi rig where I can easily swap out the hook with the idea that replacing a blunt hook is better than homing one although I do and so use pens to prevent rust. My approach is a hint for a rig that I can swap out hooks without having to sharpen them have resulted in my use of the multi rig.

The Trakker hook ups were a rip off of the same type of thing that a chap on the old RMC forum made and sold on there... im still using mine after 10 or more years... wish i could buy more of them

I use a small section of rig foam and nick the hook point into that - same stuff you cut zigs from.

I've always found that just hooking the hook onto the ring of a rod eye with the point on the inside of the eye is enough protection as it is then protected by a "Metal cage" of the rod ring. I then pull down a tight rod sleeve for "Pole Tips" over both sections of the rod before putting it into the holdhall and that stops anything getting near the hook. I've never had a hook point damaged doing it this way over about the past 50 years.
