On the hunt for new rod and reel
Wondering if any of the good people can give us some advice on a rod (10ft ) and reel set up.

I don't fish any massive waters and I always find myself fishing in tight areas even if I do find myself on larger waters.
Also why am it also in search for a easy to put up/down day shelter.

I can recommend Wychwood MLT Extricators in 10ft if you don't want to break the bank. I pair mine with Daiwa ss2600, but any of the smaller carp reels will fit them. Great rods for the money with plenty of backbone.

I recommend an oval umbrella with sides and preferably a space saver frame.

I've had mid 30lb carp on them you don't need heavy test curve rods to land big carp like seems to be the fashion now days with people thinking u need to buy heavy test curve rods to land big carp

I was wondering with the mainline on the reel mostly ? What lb of line do you have on it ? Cheers for this by the way 🙏

Set the clutch properly and you can land them on almost any breaking strain of line
Wouldn't be good for them though..

What's annoying few places local to me have a 15lb line only in rules . So it makes it more difficult in getting the right set up .

Just use the 15lb line, it'll make no real difference unless you are trying to cast 80yds.
Small rods are nice to fish with and you might be glad of thicker, more durable mainline if fish get into marginal reeds or weed.

I have 10ft Free Spirit hi s 2 3/4 - just excellent, paired with either Castizm QD's or Shimano 5000 XTEA's if I am fishing the margins. I've had several fish over 30, including a 42.10 on those rods IMO, those Free Spirit's are the best 10fts out there. Well worth the money. Got full cork on mine, have three of them...

I've had sonic vader rods which were great for price point but upgraded to a set of the tacklebox cfx 10ft rods and they are superb lovely feel, and you can get them customised if you like too.

Reel wise I went for shimano 5500xtd only because I couldn't find a set of esp onyx compact reels that I could afford. I upgraded the washers on the XTDs and it transformed them in user friendliness and ease to set the drag

If you can find them: Daiwa Cast'izm, top 10ft rods.

The Tacklebox CFX 10ft 3lb rods are excellent and they will custom build them to your requirements if you want.

I have just purchased a set of Shimano TX2 10ft and Daiwa Emcast 25a.

First impressions, I am very very pleased.

The rods have a full length handle which I find much more comfortable and the reels are super smooth and feel solid. I believe they are a large spinning reel so perfect for pairing up with a smaller, lighter rod

So i have ended up with 2 okuma 6000 reels and sonik 10ft extractor rods .
Both feel and look great .

Fox explorers and the Okuma inception reels combine perfectly, or the Penn Rivals, the Okuma reels are perfectly good enough I really like the set up, I use it more than my 12ft rod set up now
