Just have a look in Go Outdoors mate and look at the reviews. I've got one that plugs in the boot of my car, and it's fine. But before that I just had a bog standard one which was also fine. Just get plenty of them blue freezer blocks, and keep it in the shade.

I agree that iceytek are the ones. Bulky and not cheap but definitely worth the extra money over a standard cool box.

Hi all. Should ice boxes be sealed when the lid is closed. I ask as mine when ice has melted I can tip it upside down and out comes the water?. I have the Coleman xtreme but thinking of getting a different brand.

Hinges are dubious on Coleman. They are plastic and go brittle in the sunlight. Have 3 iceyteks still going strong after 12 years hard use.have broken lids off 2 Coleman 85 l after a couple of years use.no comparison they are bombproof.
If your looking for a 70 or 100 l size a companycalled drawm do real quality ones.
Look on the findafishingboat website under equipment heading.cheers

I have one of these. Put 2 x 2 litre bottles of frozen water in and keeps everything cold, boilies still mostly frozen after a 48hr session in summer. Bottles still mostly full of ice after the 2 days as well.
Been using one for several years now, never had a hinge problem.

Any roto moulded cool box, Icy tek, yeti there's a number of brands, they're almost indestructible and keep ice for days on end, you just have to use them correctly.
I have one of UK Kayaks roto moulded coolers (same factory as the Yeti ones but half the price 👍

If you can afford it get a yeti, best thing ive ever bought!
For any coolbox to work efficiently it must be filled correctly, lots of space inside and its effectiveness is depleted, also how often you open it to get stuff out affects performance too, don't buy one that is too big for your needs and try and keep it out of the sun.

Mine is 5 years old and still in perfect condition, the hinges are fine. It's like anything if you look after stuff it lasts

I've got a Coleman and it's still as good as new , had it 5or 6 years now. Plenty good enough for a long weekend and miles cheaper too.
Brought a 600 litre poly ice storage box ‘believe that it's roto moulded' for cold drinks in the yard in summer and double up as storage in the colder months. Just over £600 but available in 70 litres,100 litres, 310 litres and even a 1000 litres. I'd imagine the 100 litre one be around £200.

I have just gone through this self same dilemma what to do for a weekend and then longer.
I am going to Lakemore in June for 5 days, plus I will be doing the odd longer session each year going forward so I wanted two cool boxes, one for weekends and the other for longer sessions.
For weekends I bought the Coleman Xtreme 26Litre Cool box pictured. And for longer sessions a 41 Litre Dometic ACX 40G which runs on small camping gas cannisters (1 per 24 hours).
The Coleman Xtreme, which I got as unused second hand for £40, they are about £80 on the bay

Agree with using 2litre plastic bottles filled with water and put in the freezer for 24hrs.i use bleach bottles,much thicker plastic, , washed out obviously,!

Buy the right size, because performance comes down to preparation and packing. You need to fill it completely so there's no air/empty spaces, because that makes ice melt quicker. So, if you buy a 100 litre, remember its best to top it of with ice/food/drinks as much as possible. Also, you need to put your ice on top of your products (if possible, because cold moves downwards), so think about the optimal shape/build of the box. Its also best to cool it in advance, so the bigger, the more ice you'll have to put in the day before you leave. So before you go out buying, first establish how much stuff you usually bring on a long weekend and how you tend to pack.

DeWallt toolbox - size of your choice. This is the large one for £25.
Line with 25mm cellotex thermal from a mate in the building trade. The base and lid are 50mm if you cut pieces to fit the plastic moulding ribs - same on the sides by the handles. Use white silicone sealant on the joins for easy cleaning.

I've done similar with a festool tool box for work, and also done it to cheapo tesco cool boxes as they are the right size for me. It's better to use 12mm board doubled up so there's an overlap.

Dewalt actually make 2 cool boxes. I use the tough system one without insulation as a tool box and it's takes a licking. Would be interested if it wasn't over £100

Costco have the 'Titan' coolbags in stock and they are on offer until May 8th. I've just paid £20 including vat.

These Coleman ones come in 3 sizes. Smallest ice lasts 3 days, medium 4 days and large 5 DAYS!!!
I bet it's 5 days in the middle of winter 🥶

was the Vango Pinnacle 32L -72Hr
at the time of testing 2 or 3 years ago it quickly sold out everywhere

Last year we did a 3 days trip all days atound 30 °C , when we got home I left the ice in the cooler in the storage room on day 5 we still had ice in or Coleman 50 Qt Xtreme Wheeled Cooler Tricolor
trick is mainly to load the cooler as full as possible the less space the better it stays cool, for the space to fill we used towels.

Yes m8 the Vango Pinnacle 32L-72Hr lives up to its name and as said it came out as a best buy in the Which mag tests beating coolboxes costing a lot more
