Hello everyone, I've been looking around this forum and I couldn't find any discussions about the mono line Berkley CM70, just a mention here and there.
Since the CM90, which I've seen alot of you recommending, isn't available in the shops near me, I wondered what might the differences in the CM70 and CM90 be? I've also been looking at the Fox Exocet, but apparently It likes to break easily, from what I found reading around this forum.
If you have any other recommendations, I'd be glad to hear them, but sadly my local shops don't offer any Daiwa or Gardner product's so those are not an option.

Gardner pro light and dark really useable all round line👍🏻
I'd just order it online
I tried both the brown and green from Berkeley as I've really got a bad
Fetish for lines
The green is really workable etc
The brown again is good , but the colours did nothing for confidence

Not used the CM70, but have used CM90 for 2 seasons, mainly in 15lb on the tidal Trent for Barbel. It behaves well on the spool, is pretty low diameter and is very abrasion resistant.
When it was hard to get hold of last year I bought some Korda Subline in 15lb, which is supposed to be a tough, no nonsense mono. It was like towrope compared to the CM90, much thicker, but what surprised me most was that it was getting shredded to sh*t on the rocks, I had to cut off 4 or 5 metres several times in a 24hr session. For comparison I've fished the same swim multiple times with CM90 and had to cut some off maybe once or twice in all those sessions. I went back to CM90 as soon as I could buy it again.

Big fan of CM90 here - breaks well above it's stated breaking strain, and as previous poster mentions, is extremely abrasion resistant. I found Subline to be poor, and I tried some Pro Logic stuff that whilst it was OK, it had a horrible tendency to curl up and didn't seem like it had a particularly low memory.

Been using cm90 since it came out, it is lovely and supple, I've had it in 12 and 15lb on my big pits and 12 and 15lb on my 8010gts and it has been perfect. Was using technium black before that and I think it's even better and that was a lovely line too.

i used cm70 for a season or 2 seemed pretty decent but
seemed to behave worse than the 15lb Big Game i would usually use, wasnt sold on the colour either
i cut the end gear off after each trip pay off line and wind it back on to the reel to reduce the build up of twist
people might rubbish BG as being old hat but i dont think alot of the lines are so much better to justify cost twice as much or more

I have used Fox trans khaki and esp syncro (loaded and normal, didn't like the loaded) in the last few years and both have been fine just that my local didn't have them in the breaking strains required.
It's interesting how some people describe CM90 as supple and some as wirey.

CM90 is the best 'mono type' line I've ever used
Fished with CM90 2 years ago very good line but fished with Korda Touchdown last year and prefer it over CM90.

Plus Berkley have been making lines since before most of these other carp companies were even thought about, let alone before they put an order into china for their line.

Strange that as the tackle box line tests have the measured diameter as identical (0.35) with the stated diameters being 0.37 and 0.38.
Have a feel of Korda subline in 15lb to see some proper towrope
When I tried it on the Trent I actually had to use bigger leads to hold bottom due to the pressure on the thicker line

I measured some 15lb CM90 with calipers and double checked with a micrometer, and found it matched the diameter stated on the spool rather than the Tackle box measurements.

I think there may have been some variations with batches as when I used it a couple of years ago I found it lovely and supple, but the abrasion resistance wasn't good at all

Maybe I got a bad batch,I was shocked at how bad it was.It was very strong and very good with abrasion resistance but other than that I did not rate it at all

I agree i have had 3 or 4 spools of the 15lb cm90 each spool has either measured 0.38 or 0.39 measured with a calibrated micrometer.
Another one of the tacklebox tests i have found different is the 15lb esp syncro xt the stated diameter is 0.37mm the tackle box say 0.35. the spool of 15lb that was on my reels last year measures 0.37 and the new spool i have got to replace it with is also 0.37mm
As a comparison between the two i think the cm90 is tougher sinks better but doesn't cast as well as the syncro

What B.S do you go for Pal ? I like the 12 but it's goes horrible after a fish, have to strip a rod length off every time, never seen twist like it

Never had a problem with it (Never had a twist on the Cm90 either) , are you sure you're not doing anything wrong and the line is spooled correctly?
There are more who went from Cm90 to Tochdown and like the Tochdown more and dont have these problems.

Ive seen a lot of lines go twisty/coily in the last rod length after landing fish touchdown, syncro, cm90 included a lot of the time that i have seen its after it has been in contact with weed during the fight, that may be one reason.

Not using your reel correctly and not letting your rod do its job during a fish fight is the nr1 cause of line twist
Shimano technicum black was the only one where I suffered from line twist (it twist even without a fish fight just by casting) with the Cm90 and TouchDown never had any problem. (last year i fished alot on weedy waters)

In one of the early korda videos when danny was was using the touchdown he even recommended cutting the touchdown back after catching fish as he was suffering the same mentioned problems, incidentally it is not like the traditional line twist people comment on its more like the line has been damaged.
I know i have had it on certain venues where i am not getting any line twist yet only after catching fish and also never use the clutch to play fish
