Probably because the competition have similar prices on their new brollies/bivvy. New titan hide is about 400-450 and fox frontier 500.

I see cyprinus put a post up saying all their tackle going up in the next few weeks and they said other tackle manufacturers will be too.

It is unfortunately. Nash have also increased their prices of the original hides. Think with the whole brexit along with covid, increases in material costs and delays in getting the products out this has been passed to us customers

But the Tempest Brolly 100 model 2021 is 289 euro, that is not 500 pounds.
Price is a bit higher than the 2020 model, I think because of the addition of the rear vents.

It's certainly not helped. I've seen loads of posts about UK bait not being allowed over to France unless the companies get some kind of certificate and put it on packaging. That'll be additional cost no doubt. Then most imports have been delayed 3-4 months, fox frontiers only just got to the UK and the hide XL now may time

I did think that, ivr been looking at bivvys and not seen the brolly close to that value, didnt know if they'd just announced a newer one. Maybe been looking at the advanced or the brolly with all the additional options?

Trakker already do the tempest brolly advanced which is aquatex material and was over £450 it's been out 2/3 years and comes complete with front , groundsheet , storm poles so this one you have seen on angling direct website is probably just the newer replacement

500 just for a brolly is extortionate lol. Usually you have to buy all the add ons too if you want ground sheets etc. Atleast the frontier comes with all of these for 500.

I agree,it's getting ridiculous how many models they have done but I get why.You will get people all wanting something different from their shelters,height is the main one I see mentioned alot.I have the v2 bivvy for longer sessions and a wychwood mhr brolly for shorter sessions.

I'm thinking of doing that, I have the Wychwood brolly plus a Cyprinus over wrap, its ok but the big problem is the spokes and centre pole, keep bashing my head on it and I'm only a tidler, I will be after a Tempest V2 brolly soon.

I'm pretty certain the cost of bulky items from China are going up across the board. It's not just tackle. Shipping costs from China to the uk have gone up significantly, not to mention the reduction in supply as China simply isn't producing as much as it used to do at the moment so prices are going up. There was a similar story on one of the news websites recently (can't remember which) about the cost of trampolines going up 50% this year ...mainly down to the increases in the cost of shipping.
Almost impossible to buy British when it comes to bivvy so I'm afraid you'll all have to bend over whilst China and the tackle companies go to town with the pot of sandy Vasoline and your rusty sheriffs badge, unless of course you can make do with what you've got already ....that's my plan anyway

Tbh all the more expensive tempest all come with a groundsheet, infill panel and storm poles. Apart from the skull cap which like the frontier you pay for separately

Is it that big of a deal to anyone if people are buying them? They are not making you buy it so just ignore it, if people can afford to do it and some can't so be it. I won't be getting one but it doesn't bother me if someone else does. Unpopular opinion but I'd happily pay that for it tho no problem if I liked it that much but I like my 100t so I won't be upgrading to this

The big deal is that if people buy them other companies follow then they go up again and again then before you look round when you want to buy a brolly it cost £700 if people didn't buy they would have no choice but to drop the price they are testing the market with these prices if they don't sell you can just drop the price and still make money it's the oldest trick in the book

It has just been proven how much they are pulling people's pants down with these prices.The Aqua Pioneer got heavily discounted a few weeks back to make way for the new material version.Even at the discounted prices they will still have made a huge profit.

I totally agree braders they have a safety net price so when they discount they still make money good example lately is the aqua atom plus with wrap discounted to £289 for both

If you are bothered about being ripped off then wait for these deals, not like they are poor bivvies? People who want the newer stuff will pay for it. Majority of new things are highly priced when released because the demand is high, look at TVs, games consoles, phones etc its not just "carp tax"

Thats the problem they are poor bivvies,it took me 3 attempts to get a decent tempest v2 bivvy.If the product is high quality then I don't mind paying a premium but Aqua are nowhere near the quality they used to be and Trakker have always been hit and miss

I think most bivvies have their issues though. No end of people recommend the v2 because ive been looking for a brolly/bivvy myself. Buy also seen that a few people have had issues with theirs and trakker have replaced them

I dont know how the designs can be improved, the speed for setting up can't be increased significantly as it only takes minutes to put up these days. (Can't see a design being quicker than the spreader blocks) Guess quality, weight and features are the only improvements we will see now

I wonder how well the new fabric has been tested? I am always cautious with anything new, as I think every company in the world works out the issues based on the first ones off the production line.
