I'm guessing all pva bags are not the same quality and cheap is not always the best option. Also guess buying in bulk is going to work out cheaper in the long run.

Having said all that I know the big brand names also come at a premium. I've been looking on the bay of e and it's a bit of a minefield with so many sellers to choose from.

Where are you guys buying your bags from?

I use the bulk buy bags from the Bay of E and find them ok
They are mostly the same bags sourced from China.

There are claims of the branded bags being made of higher quality purer PVA, but I can't say I've really noticed a discernible difference. I have used a few of branded offerings.

The eBay dimpled bags are actually much nicer to use than the smooth branded bags as they don't stick together.

But you Chuck them in the pond and they melt

same here i bought hundreds of ebay last year,there is nothing wrong with them,quite few of the lads on my syndicate used them.

I use e of the bay , but , first couple of orders were bang on , same supplier , last lot were completely different. nowhere near as supple , still melt tho.........I checked

I used to buy my pva from the bay of E, but lately the bags seem really bitter when licking to seal them.. Not sure whether it matters, but as it's around the hookbait I'd rather not risk it for a couple of quid.

I blowed if I can find it now ?

but I read somewhere there are a couple of ways PVA is produced YES they all melt !
but depending on the production and materials used some will leave a bitter tasting residue and some wont Im still looking if I find it I will post it


personally I just use SLOW MELT mesh for my river fishing and found this is the best I have used

Personally I like carp craze pva mesh and bags, or Korda bags. They seem to do well I no people are going to say they are all the same but I bought a big bulk load of eBay and I can 100% say they wasn't the same quality ended up binning the lot. Carp craze do a lot of good deals on eBay so might be worth a look

Well I've used this lot for all my PVA needs over the years and not had any hassle at all, melt well and certainly don't have a bitter aftertaste, price is reasonable and delivery/service has always been top notch.

cheap enough I dont think ANY of them wont catch fish or melt

but maybe like all things some will work a lot better than others

You're most likely right Gerry, i did however use the Cheap bags alongside the Korda, Fox and Mo'sCo and did not notice any difference, well other than the cheapies were much easier to use than the Korda and fox, as they tend to stick together.

Its a shame Mo's Co stopped trading they were great bags

i bought aload of the mini lick n stick of mos co, perfect little bags i dont think you can buy them that small of any one any more

Mo's co, great PVA, and nice guy to deal with. Sad he has stopped trading, I used to get all my PVA from him.
I found ESP bags were the worst for sticking together.

Gone back to Kryston Meltdown for string and just add my PVA bags onto my Rod Hutchinson orders each time I order bait.

Well just learned my first lesson. Bought 50 bags off the bay. Size 100mm x 50mm.

Trouble was the inside width of the bag is only 38mm. The 2 sealed sides take up 12mm of the bags width.

I had a feeling buying bags wouldn't be as straightforward as it could be

I've used castaway Pva a bit and never had any problems. Plus it's actually made in the uk on their own machines so there's no worries about variation in quality.

I think from an Instagram post I saw the other day that they've got a new website launching soon. Might be worth a look.

Has anyone ever used their Pva cable ties? I wondered if they might make solid bag fishing even easier?

My mate gave me a few PVA cable ties to try, not my cup of tea as they are very prone to leaving large lumps of partially dissolved PVA.
