As most of my fishing these days is close range stuff, I have been thinking I wiuld like some lower tc , all through action rids.
Something like the 2.25 Mk1 Armalite.
How would rods like the Mk3 2 5 or the Free Spirit 2.25 ( KS ? ) compare ?
Any other suggestions ?
I am not averse to 11 footers, but think I would like to stick to 12 footers.

As with another similar thread recently; Harrison Multicarp 12ft 2.25tc are an absolute joy to use up to about 70yds with leads up to 2.5oz. You'll be hard pushed to find a more through actioned rod.

Never thought I was going to say this but the Century armalite mk3 is hard to beat in 10/12ft in terms of Through action in my opinion.

Fs S range also felt good but outside Uk a drama to deliver, but i not recommend the FS S range over the Armalites

A little more power in C2 Mk2, in 10(3lb) & 12(3-3,25lb) ft, still very a playing rod.
Century FBS 10 (3lb) feet, power and playing.

I always wanted some mk1 armalites,2.75tc,but a family and life and the expense put me off years ago..

Fast forward, I bought my son some mk1 2.75tc armalite mk1s off of here back along,I've used them,they are lovely rods,but for a set of three,lots money,fantastic players rods..

So I use Ctx 2.5tc by free spirit,lovely to fish with,I use em on big and small lakes,and they bend,really nice rods ...

They are fun to use,remember that word...fun...lol...

Take a look at the 11' Harrison "Baby" Ballistas.
I've got Free Spirit TS 11 footers but they are 2.75's. Lovely through action though.
I've always been tempted with the Ballistas as they are available as a 2.25 and have always received rave reviews.

Free spirit ES 12ft 2.75tc nicest rod I've used in a long while (though I will concede century NG's are similar) does everything I want it to do up to 80yds lovely through action when playing fish highly recommended.

Someone who has owned the Century armalite mk3 and the Free spirit ES 12ft 2.75tc and can compare both?

For lower budget Avid Traction 12ft 2.5lb is also a nice Through action rod.

Ive owned the mk2 armalites not the mk3's and the es and prefered the es. The armalites always felt a bit tip heavy. Ive got the 2.5 stealth graphenes now and they are lovely rods and not tip heavy like most century rods. Ive only had one fish on them but they have a lovely all through action and bend right through to the butt and are a true through actioned rod. Still undecided on the alps reel seats though.

Which TC did you Es have?

Ctx 2.5tc by free spirit, the bend but are the througt action (no stiffness in the butt) in 2.5Tc?
I returned my Ctx 12ft 2.75 because they only bend in the front section.

I have the baby ballistas in 2.5lb but more and smaller eyes than normal, beautiful playing rods
