The ones that have removable inners are a nightmare to walk in. Aigle and le chameau are probably the best ones ive had but there quite expensive.

I've recently got a pair of some Muck Artic Extreme boots. Had them on a few times and along with merino socks the feet are toastie warm. Walking in them is fine and sitting under the brolly inactive my feet still didn't get cold .Initially went
at the price, but picked the right boots.
Would definitely recommend if your budget will stretch.

I'd second the Muckboot arctic sport, if you want a warm boot. I've got the Muckboot Spey which I believe to be an older version of the Arctics, but with a naff real tree style camo pattern. They are decent to walk in, a million times better than any with removeable linings I've tried. Watch out for the sole though. Mine are superb on grass or mud, but lethal on tarmac or wet wood.
I found Le Chameau very comfortable for walking, but wore the cotton lining out on the heel. The Aigles I currently use are also very good for walking in, but don't seem to be as good a fit for me. Both of these are just the basic offerings with cotton linings, so not really cold weather boots, though both are available with neoprene linings at a premium. I doubt either would be as warm as Muckboots.
Edit to add- A more budget friendly option might be a pair of "ordinary" oversize wellies with decent wool socks and a pair of neoprene socks. I wear my bootfoot waders like this and have no problems, though this is usually limited to a few hours at a time.

Heard Rovex boots are really good,and have replaceable liners...

Yeap I use thin cotton socks, use flip flops when in the Bivvy and my Skee techs if I have to reach for a run. I do have a pair of waders which if necessary I'll put on and hence the trouser tucked in sock is a god send, allowing ease of freedom of movement . Then again I swear by socks and sandles. It's

I did buy an expensive pair of muckboots with a much better tread pattern

I have well developed calf muscles and the top of the Muckboots was 17.5 inches !!!!

Gerry right about the grip on the Scrubs,brilliant boot but crappy wavy tread underneath them...in reality,they are gardening boots really I bet..
I fished my old syndicate yesterday,sort of slid,glided down the path to the lake,once you've learnt the groovy slide you get used to them,...on my second pair,there ok I like em...👌

Worst boots I had for grip,were Brasher hillmaster gtx,they look the part,but omg,I found on local slate paths so,so dangerous...my coccyx,certainly took a couple bad slip,one up on the cliffs once...

My fishingwaders waders have cleats they are pretty good on many a surface. Mud is going to slide. Only my face stops me
I got shimano eviairs,spelling,anyway....they don't grip so well either..don't use em much now tbh...
I think I shall get some of those military trainers from military first,at some point,and fold the tongue n laces back for my night forays..

The best "Wellies" I have ever had is Navitas lite insulated boots". A fully removable felt liner which can be replaced. I use them not only for freshwater fishing in the winter but also stood on the beach sea fishing and I have never had cold feet in them yet. In Summer just use them without the liner, they have good tread and they are that lite you don't know you have them on. You can even use the liner on it's own as a bivvy boot but no good to stand in the wet on their own.
The only issue I have with them is no good in Winter for rushing out to hit a run as both liner and boot have to be put on separately so I just remove the liner and use the wellie itself which because of what it is made off seems to have it's own thermal properties as it is warm to the touch.

Yeah I don't normally wear wellies but the new syndicate is very muddy plenty to look at .

Sure some grips are better and the material they are made out of is equally important. They look decent enough better than my flip flops.

then why would I want the restriction of folded down tops ?
IMHO the short Muck boot scrubs are the perfect length I can swing my legs out of bed point my toe and they are on in a flash now these are the same but with a better grip

Welded seams went on mine within three winters, granted I use them for fishing shooting and on the beating days but I would of liked at least 5 winters out of them it was the last time I bought expensive wellies, 50 to 100 is as much as I will spend these days my Muck Boots have just gone the same way after four or so years the seam at the rear of the ankle has just come away letting in water, misses has just got me a pair of the Sabre tackle terrain X ones for £70 worth a punt neoprene lined as well, they do a version that look like Muckboot for £50.00

Will do I always order a size bigger with wellies/waders as I'm normally a size 8 in ordinary footwear, they are a little larger but I prefer that as a tight fit always makes my feet go cold quickly winter time.

Have been using Muck boots for the last 5 years as my go to wellies. For the life of me I can't remember the model but have stood the test of time. Numerous encounters with barbed wire fences but still keeping my feet dry and warm.
Muck Boots Arctic Sport - Got some specially for a 4 day session last week, temps ranged from -1 up to a balmy 4 degrees... so it never got warmer than my fridge at home...
Still those boots with nice thick socks kept my feet warm and comfortable, and weren't too difficult to take on and off.
I'm a 10 and got em in 11, they actually fit well with thin socks on too.

they cost me money to send back bought a pair of Muckboots but the bloody tops are 17.5" my calf muscles were 18.5" so cut the top 10" off they are kinda ok
so being Christmas saw Sabre tackle got 20% off everything free delivery too
so took a chance and as I like a short boot I bought the FENCHAM ARMOT NEOPRENE WELLINGTON FIELD BOOT SHORT
with 20% off = £47.99 delivered they came today BRILLIANT bought my normal size 10 and they are a perfect fit roomy easy to point the toe and step into the sole grip pattern looks to be able to give a good grip too well please I would say lot better than the Muckboots that cost more than double the price

Dragging this thread back up as my Muckboots ( Woody Max) have just given in and letting water in
So in need off a pair of wellies, due to the swims I've always taken them with me
The good thing about them was I could fold them down making it quick to get them on.
So been looking at replacements
Looking at the Fortis ones for winter but a normal pair for summer
My mate sez the normal Vass wellies don't hold shape and end up faffing about getting them on in a rush
So any recommendations for just a pair the will stand and hold shape
I only paid £80 for my Woody max boots but prices are sky high now for them

Easy to put on, warm and comfy
So impressed I then bought a pair of their ankle wellies
Very impressed and would definitely recommend

I'm on my second pair of muckboots and will continue buying them when they go, i feel the soles normally ware out before the boots go.
Always had good dicounts when buying the the balck friday/christmas sales.

Buckbootz worth a look
Holding up well so far Got a pair of the orange / blue safety version
Guys wearing them daily in tough constantly wet and mucky conditions
Reckon six months to a year So for angling purposes should last ages

Grubbs snowline 8.5 for me ,they are lovely and warm on the beach when temps drop below zero and I love vibram soles as they offer good grip and are comfortable to walk in.
