Just wondered if this jacket is worth the money is it a quality jacket feedback please

Had mine 3 years now and never been cold even down to minus 8 ,but did have a hoodie underneath.It's also very light weight.
I would say it's worth the money. The SJ9 is meant to be warmer but is shorter in the back and more money.

Reason I asked is mixed reviews some people say that for the price the hood should be padded and the zip have no baffles and the arms are tight and they say it's heavy and other say it's great

I have an FJ6 and they are brilliant, wore it last week when it was down to zero degrees and was plenty warm enough with a thermal long sleeve vest and hoody underneath, I had my SJ9 in the van in case the FJ6 wasn't up to the job but the dog ended up sleeping under that

Oh and the hood is padded, longer sleeves and back covers your bum, on the Fortis/Snugpak version anyway

Looked at all the fortis versions and I decided on the Torrent (non fortis).Fully waterproof,extremely warm and at less than £120 its value for money

Dont have the sj6 but have the Fortis/Snugpak SJ9. Brilliant jacket. Exceedingly well made and cant see myself ever getting cold in it. Quality is up there with the likes of Buffalo clothing. Only negative I have heard is that the sizing can be a bit funny on them luckily mine fitted fine first time.

The reason I didn't get the Torrent is I prefer to put a goretex over the top if it's raining, which I can then take off when back in the bivvy, didn't fancy the idea of being sat in the dark for hours on a cold night in a wet jacket

Good point but to be honest if you give the Torrent a quick shake it is pretty much dry.The water just seems to bead off it

I'm more than happy with mine. I especially like the light weight - oh and the warmth. Not cheap but worth it IMO. Had it two years, still like new.

Great but of kit imho. Also got a SJ3 which intend to wear more tbh as layering up under the FJ6 is too warm for me! Have worn the Elements Base Layer, t-shirt, Technical Fleece, Sallopettes & SJ3 and never been cold in temps down to -8°C. Didn't feel hampered at all or like the Michelin Man! I tend to wear the FJ6 when doing a walk round a venue as easier to just put on rather than layering up just for a quick wander.

SJ6 or the Torrent then guys. Torrent is waterproof, the SJ6 isn't classed as such. Otherwise what other differences?

Have a look at the snugpak website for specs.

Just seen the Torrent Extreme now, that looks like the combination of both and the top of the range 👌

I have the torrent, extremely warm and waterproof - if it's wet, quick Shake and all dry, as has been mentioned.

For me, it was a case of only carrying one coat, not two.
