I'd like to get my scopes re rung as the braid has cut into the supposed minima rings. Just wondered how much it would cost and if anyone on here does work like this?

You'd probably be looking at around £90-100 per rod. At a guess, depending whether or not you'd want minima ringing again or something else.

I don't think it would be worth doing cost to much is it all the rings if your just changing a few that are damaged it would be ok but as said £80 £100 per rod for all

As an example, my rod builder charges £12 per ring plus the cost of the rings. No idea how that matches up to others though.

Should be ok I've got 2 rings per rod on 2 rods. Bit disappointing the braid has done the damage it has on a reasonably expensive rod

Made me a little concerned now as my Infinity X45's have Minima guides & with what they cost, I don't fancy having to change rings every few years!!! I did query how good the Minima guides were when I bought them but was told they are fine with braid!
At least it gives me an excuse to have them rerung with Fuji K Series down the line....

Not nash's fault.
I grooved genuine minimas with braid. Just two Bob guides for anything above a specialist rod

To be fair the rods have been bang on until I switched to braid, had them a good few years too. I'll likely get a couple changed for the sake of £60

As said , i wont fit minima guides apart from grooving they bend in a strong wind, fuji or kigan for me .

Have you built a rod with the American Tackle Vortex guides people are offering instead of the minimas? Any idea how these stand up to braid? Very light and not expensive.

I have had a look at them as harrisons are selling them but to be honest i have had no issues with fuji or kigans that i have no need to change.

Never had any issues with minima guides in nearly 10 years of having them on my Cotswolds r1's. So much so have had them on every other custom built rod I own, fishing at over 400m with braid, in harsh conditions, always been super durable despite getting used pretty brutally. Perhaps the quality has gone downhill more recently?

I know other people that have them on rods and they have been fine but i have fitted them and had rods back within 3 months and had to completely strip and change guides , im not doing it again so wont fit them , there seems to be no consistency in the quality.

Prity sure when minima first came out they were not recommended for use with braid and my rod builder would use use different tip guides.

I have had minimas on my r1 lights for 9 years. My minimas are fine and I have used both floating and sinking braids. Tom did insist that I had a Kigan tip ring though

I did a bit of internet research on these rings as they're extremely popular with home rod builders in the USA and i was toying with putting them on some aviators i built. I think a common opinion over there is that it all depends on what kind of waters your fishing in terms of suspended sediments and substrates which collect in braid particularly. A friend of mine also had issues with flurocarbon grooving them which was enough to sway me away from them and back to the more traditional ceramic lined guides as i don't intend to rebuild very often. I do wonder how kind/unkind these ultra light skinny guides are on mainlines as the thinner the guide liners the less heat dissipation and perhaps that is another contributing factor as to why they groove.

Never really like the look of the minima type guides they look fragile and i think the only thing they do is reduce weight and build cost - ceramic is used for a good reason.
also, if they were that good, they would be on every single super light spinning rod as standard ?
