Was just wondering what were the best budget thermal wellies, would prefer lightweight ones, NOT like the original Skeetex's!! Also, no lace up ones.

I've seen Skeetex Ultralights @ £38, TRC lightweight EVA Wellies @ £37, Navitas Boots @ £35.

Your advice is welcome, also some comment on the sizes and whether or not I need to go up or down a size.

I have the Navitas and they are very good. You can definitely get them for less than £35, try Go Outdoors and TFT, they usually have them reduced. Also worth looking on the Navitas website as they have 20% off today so should get them for under £30

What are the sizes like for both? Do I need to go up or down a size?

I bought the same size I am in normal foot ware and we're fine even with thick socks on

I've got a pair of vass thermal boots the brown ones not the green ones (found the green ones not as good) the brown ones are brilliant had mine for a couple years now and couldn't rate them enough

Yes mate, the green wellie version just fell apart but the brown Velcro strap version are brilliant

Yeap, the one's with the velcro strap. I ordered the same size as my shoe size, but I've read after I'd ordered (typically) that they are a bit snug fitting. Is that right?

Sports direct Dunlop wellies ten quid and a pair of gelert socks from the camping section for 3 quid.

Job done. Never get cold feet.

Tbh yeah I ordered a size bigger than I normally am but that was just because if I want to use thick socks with them I could. I think you might be ok just have to see how you get on bud

Think I'm gonna call them tomorrow and up it a size, they won't have posted them yet, didn't order them until 4:30pm on Saturday. If size 10 are too big, they are based in Northwich which is only 20 miles from me, so not a problem to take them back and exchange.

I'm a 10 I got a 11 and they fitted alright with a bit of room to spare aswell so I'm happy with mine I find them very comfortable

Another 50 notes mate and you could have got a pair of Baffin Trappers. I've heard guys bang on about these boots so made the jump and bought a pair. They are simply awesome bits of kit that are perfect.

Let us know how those Vass boots perform.

yes the Baffins blow everything else out of the water, hardly budget though but in this case you definitely get what you pay for

Do they only do a wellington version? Bought a cheap pair of boots last month just to see if I'd use them enough to justify a decent pair & now at the point where I need a decent pair

I got some of the Navitas thermal lined wellies from Go Outdoors for about £18, have been faultless, wore them all last winter and they held up well I didn't have cold feet once.

Does anywhere in the UK actually sell Baffin Trappers?

I have the rovex boots and they are ok but the liners come out of the boots every time I remove them so I don't use them much

go on a site called night hawk and they have Michigan neoprene wellies for 17quid calf height.. pretty warm with right socks

Doesn't look like it anymore... although they appear to be out of stock everywhere unless you are a size 12 - AD have some.

I bought some diem waterproof/thermal boots from sports direct, think they cost me about £25, I stick a pair of thermal socks on and my feet are warm and dry 👍🏽

So 2 years on and wondered how you got on with these cheap Diem's. Ive picked up a new pair for £10 so did they do the job?
