Recommendations for a decent flask that actually keeps the contents warm for a days fishing.

Just bought one from ‘Kleen Kanteen'
They do a range from small cups up to bigger flasks over 1L - I bought the original insulated one. £27. About 590ml I think. They're shatter proof, stainless. Claim to keep hot things hot for 20hrs and cold things cold for 50hrs. I boiled the kettle and filled mine and although I didn't actually have a probe, I did a bit of a test. The water I guess went in at just under 100degrees. After 6hrs I put my finger in it and it was still hot enough to not want to keep my finger in it
After 12hrs it was still steaming and just about warm enough to pour into a cup and make a just about drinkable cup of tea. I dare say if you made tea and put that in the flask it would be more than acceptable 12hrs later.

I would take it back it must be faulty ???
Stanley after sales are legendary
they are the best money can buy
but if you want a cheaper one with ALMOST the same performance ?
I can recommend the one I use one for day fishing ASDA are selling the Thermos Thermocafé Stainless Steel Hammertone Flask 1 litre for £13
and find it still very very hot at the end of the day

Im on the 2nd screw top now. They sent it foc to be fair but this has gone as well🙈

Probably teaching my grandmother to suck eggs, but to get top performance from steel flasks make sure you fill it with boiling water to prove it, pour it away and fill immediately. Can't help with top problem except to say don't overfill maybe.

My mate has a Stanley green one and swayed me from it because of it not working great so I opted for a thermos king 1.2l...currently £20.99 on Amazon

Gotta agree with you on charging the flask first
However I find it all tastes tinny if you leave a drink to stew it doesn't matter if it's coffee or tea
my mrs likes me to leave her a cup full after a days fishing so she can have a cup out of it but she is a weirdo..

Agree with you about the taste issue. Its why I don't use a flask anymore. With lightweight gear, a litre of water, I really enjoy brewing up when walking, fishing, on a picnic etc. Perfect cuppa, 5 minutes, no sweat.

Flask of hot water and just assemble when needed works just as well nowadays for me.
I just wish I could get those 2 in one sachets in decaf lol

I use a Stanley 1.32.litre for work,its tough,and never let me down,despite my best attempts to run it over in my bag on my ferguson,if it can take that,its tough..
Every week,I bi carb it,stops build up inside,and longterm improves insulation..
I much prefer,though taking a Trangia,in 27 or 28 mini,food and drink seems to taste nicer cooked fresh outdoors...a long term purchase is the Bush craft stove,grill and mini fire pit..made by Uco,its non marking as well,no trace..I also do a lot of controlled jenga fires,and grills...I do this fishing,work or bushcrafting...its another element to fishing...its fun..

Thermos work 1.2L for me. Still good had it a while now.

The underfilling might be the issue as that creates a vacuum which wld creat a build up of steam and pressure resulting in the screw cap pipping off.

Seriously just have a look at those. It's a stainless steel insulated bottle the one I have. Nothing to shatter. Doesn't impart any taste whatsoever. Stays hot ages

Got many a flask. I usually use a thermos Hercules
The body is plastic so it's not as noisy in storage and use, the body itself doesn't get cold to the touch in the depths of winter either. Keeps drinks hot 24 hours** ish
Also floats, for what it's worth

Im sure they are good but the Asda Thermos in my link is only £13
all stainless and is the Stanley 3 times better ??? 
I dont think so but it cost 3 times the price and only very slightly better PAST 12 hours and who wants to keep their water past 12 hours

did have one of these from primus (didnt pay RRP)
recommended by a friend in the forces who says it keeps water warm enough to pass inspection overnight (showing steam)
i threaded the cap being a plonker so have to bin it :(

I've got both the green Stanley and the Thermos work series. I can't rate the work series enough. Unopened it will produce a piping drink after 18 hours.

I have the Stanley legendary classic, which I think is similar to the unbreakable, if it's the green one with silver cup / lid.
Built like a tank, had it a couple of years now and looks new. Doesn't leak and keeps coffee hot all day in winter. I got the large sized one, think it's 1.9 liters

ive got the stainless thermos 1 its the best flask ive ever owned the last cup will still be hot after a days fishing good enough for me

Thermos work series 1.2ltr is the best I've had, properly hot drinks all day but its a heavy old hector
