After Christmas in January I'm planning on upgrading my rods I currently have 3 x free spirit 12 3.25tc rods I fancy a change I get bored easily 🤣 ideally I want a 12ft 3.25tc again I find this helps with getting up the distances if needed on one of my lakes but can still fish at shorter ranges on the others

Budget is around £250 a rod but can go upto about £300/£350 if I need to, any suggestions? Thanks

Have a read up on the Nick Buss X-Lite S. They're built on Century blanks exclusively made for Nick. As near to an 'all round' rod as you'll find IMO.

If i could justify the expense and may do one day ,i would opt for the
Daiwa Infinity DF X45 in 3.25 ,

That is the more likely I just never felt or seen one in action to see if they are worth the step up, I will most properly get a set of these anyway

Using a set of 12ft Torrix 3.25lb. Lovely rods to use.

As andy has said have a look at nick buss x-lite s ive been using my set for around 7 or 8 years now very good rods , i sold a set of te torrix to get them

I too have Nick Buss X Lite S and they are stunning to use and to look at, would recommend them.

The X Lite S is an awesome rod. I use them for everything other than proper range fishing. I recommend them.

Torrix 3.25 is a great all round rod. I also have a set of 12ft aviator plus, these are like a slightly stepped up torrix, slightly less enjoyable under the rod tip, but a bit more back bone for casting. My torrix are w14 yrars old for anyone wonderung why i have 2 sets of pretty similar rods, just treated myself to new ones. The torrix are still going strong though and come out for smaller waters

How do you like to fish? For my style of fishing (generally helicopter or running rigs with as light a lead as possible) the cerbera are nicer than the 3.25 torrix, the 3lb torrix is also nicer for my style without much difference in range.
The 3.25 torrix is nicer with heavier leads/pva bags

Anyone use or used harrison cerbera rods? Seriously considering these after being recommended them by a friend he actually sold his torrix to buy them and loves them

Tbh mate I can get a set of cerberas of 3 for £730 or a set of 3 standard torrix for £904 so not much difference between the 2 it was just because a few people have been saying you get them instead of torrix

Wow, Cerberas have jumped up in price. When I was looking a few years ago they were £210, now £270 on Johnson Ross

Century and Harrison rod prices are very high now. In fact Century rod prices seem obscene now.
But then again I just looked at top end Freespirit rods and they are just as bad.

See that's one of the things that puts me off the cerbera is even in the advert and description of the rods they describe them as the best sub £200 rod on the market even tho they are more like £275 each, money ain't the problem because I've got a few others in mind.

I can't make up my mind lol I seen a set of freespirit s lites 12ft 3.5tc and they are stunning to look at by the customer service with free spirit has put me off them massively

been using the cerbera for around 5 years now. Boy have they took some abuse in that time, 2-3 nights a week on big weedy pits, they have been spot on fella. lovely rods to play fish on and will cope with 100 - 130 yard chucks with ease. They was around £210 when I got mine as mentioned they have gone up a bit since then!

Well my mate has just offered me a set of Harrison torrix TE 12ft 6 rods they are about 3/4 years old but he never got on with them for some reason so only been sued about 5 times if that and I've just been round to see them, they are like brand new honestly look like they have never seen the bank. He wants £600 for a set of 3, what do you lot think? I think they are very nice rods tbh but never had a set of torrix

Never used them but mates have and there meant to be proper tools. Think you'll be paying near on 1k for a new set so that's a good price, I'd take them myself!

The 12ft6inch torrix te's, take one with one of your reels and a few leads to somewhere you can give them a few chucks and see what you think, if they were being offered to me for that price in the condition you say I wouldn't hesitate.

Ok mate thanks for that, they really are a 9.5 out of 10 condition if not a 10 tbh, I'll be honest the only thing that I have hesitated I don't no how they would be for playing close in and also that they a few years old being told 3/4 years at the most but really haven't been used at all you can just by looking at them

Be fine mate. Good carbon will last an age if looked after. I'd rather have the power in reserve if needed than not have it there. They are pretty much top end rods if you don't get on with them you will get your money back at the price he's asking

I highly recommend the Fox Horizon x5's, their flagship rod, I have it in 12ft 3.25, it's a very nice looking rod with the K series ringing which I really like the look of, no big ugly branding, just just subtle black and grey.

Casting is lovely, I can cast them 30 wraps and I'm a very average caster, to play fish on is a delight, all round they're superb and within your budget too 👍🏼

Sorry mate but I wouldn't buy anything fox if you paid me, I have had to get some help from there customer service before which is the worst I've ever had to deal with!

I no the rods are meant to be pretty good but I only want freespirit or Harrison at the minute thanks for the time to tell me about them though mate

Have to agree with you. I really like my Horizon X5's, no complaints at all. However In my case at least I have to say their aftersales and customer support was appalling. Rude, obstructive and unhelpful. So £1000 worth of rods, no warranty, just as well there were no issues. I have no intention of replacing the rods as I like them very much but if and when it won't be Fox
