Hi all been a while since I posted, I'm on a new Syndicate and it's like a sailing club at times with all the bait boats I don't need one myself howver looking to get a edge with rig and bait placement so have nene looking into baiting poles. I fish with 10ft rods and try to travel as light as possible has anyone any feedback and personal experience of ahy of the baiting poles currently on the market.
I'm thinking the Bushwhacker is probably my best option but I do like the concept of one's that pack down inside each other minimising space.

I used my new bushwhacker last week.
Got to say I'm very impressed with it. It's light and strong plus you can add extra 1.5m sections.
The thing that sold it for me was the way each section locks into place.
It all packs away into a bag with room for extra sections

Had a couple of different baiting poles in the past. The one that's head and shoulders above the rest is the Nash bushwacker.

Bought a Bushwacker a few weeks back and used it for the first time last weekend. Overall it is a good piece of kit. I've never used one before so it will take getting used to but that is down to me, the pole is quality

Lads who have got the bushwhacker, are the spring loaded push buttons fiddly when taking the pole apart? I am thinking with wet/cold hands it might be a ball ache?

Not used it in wet and cold conditions as of yet, but don't find it too fiddly at the moment

ive got the bushwhacker and love it, also got 7 extensions so goes to 25m. I love it and the buttons are easy to use.
Not had other baiting poles to compared against. I have also bought the HD carryall to make it even easier to carry as bag as a carry handle on it.

do consider making your own as I did.
1.5m sections of 20mm pipe conduit from screwfix, push pin connectors and the end of a bankstick glued in one tube to attach the bait spoon.
easy and cheap, only downside is that it is a but heavy. but I made a 30m pole for 28 quid including a cygnet bait spoon and a marquee carry bag.

cheap and cheerful, does the job without carp tax.
feels good shipping out 20 sections to some pads knowing you've saved 400 quid not buying the nash one

My pack of pipe and fittings arrived at work on Monday, first few sections knocked up yesterday lunch time (using solvent weld to stick threads on each end). I have a very old landing net that had a brass thread in the end, cut out and fits the pipe perfectly. Already have baiting spoons and a spare landing net float.
Not sure how long the threaded ends will last, I can see grit/dirt causing problems but worth a try for £20
How have you connected the lengths together?

ive got a small 20m pole with the threaded connections solvent welded on.
my 40m pole is done with push pin connectors, a bit more work but much more stable past 25 meters.

yep no problem, I use the smaller pole more that the large, but both work very well.

Are these the threaded bits if you were going down the none spring pin route? Only looks like the male threaded part and not the female bit or are they a complete unit?

I got them from eBay but they are truly rubbish at letting me share what I got. If you search this item number it should give you the option for male and female separately 253108150400

I've made my baiting pole with 20mm conduit - utilising the help from here and some PMs. I've used it to 18m so far and it is a bit of an animal to manage! I've made enough for a 30m pole.
One main issue that I've got - It's not stiff enough and I'm not sure what I can do with that. Makes it pretty difficult to steer once out.
Also, the male/female joints aren't hugely secure - I've used the same joints recommended on this thread.
Would love to hear from others who have got one working well.

Still using my original Cygnet baiting pole with a couple of extensions. Don't need 20m+ on the places where I use it so find it perfect for my usage. If I was to buy one of similar length again, I would go with a telescopic type though as much easier to extend/retract in confined spaces.
I've got the bushwhacker had it to 35m so far blinding piece of kit particularly being able to lock the lead in the back of the spoon for extra control when it's blowing a bit.

I'd love a Bushwacker but it's way out of my price range. I know others have got home made baiting poles to work pretty well which was the reason for asking for help.
It's the 12m plus range that I'm keen to try to make work with the conduit pipe one that I've made.
Any suggestions or help gratefully received!

First outing today of homemade baiting pole (thanks to a bit of advice from @bigappleslice), Despite it being windy it was a success and worked a treat. 20m pole for less than £50. Alas I left the lake with blankety blank cheque book and pen
