Making a winter / cold water bait. I know some baits work all year around as many likely do if fished in the right area.

But looking for attractive and effective liquids. Any reviews between liver and minamino ? Does it justify the cost difference.

Also two other im interested in is Celmanax and fruit amino ?

Thank you 👍🏻

I'd go for liquid liver and celmanax personally but as a soak over the baits once they are made. Dilute with a little water. Also liver and celmanax powders in the bait itself.

Don't neglect CSL and if bream aren't an issue then molasses both a bit out of fashion but still very effective

I use both them currently but in a Nut bait 👍🏻 Love CSL.

Just wanted something different to go in a more basic bait based on attractors more.

What sort of cold water bait are you making up ? Fishmeal ? Or milk , birdfood mix ...?

I must admit I do like the pharmaceutical grade liquid liver that AA baits sell. Expensive but gives a liver content without the sometimes overwhelming smell. Helps thin down some of the thicker liquids

Pharmaceutical liver liquid, is that a fancy name for the Liverpool player?

with a little liquid celmanax

I have not used this before, am assuming it is a liquid version of brocacel yeast? Where are you buying this from, out of interest? I am thinking mixed with liquid liver would be an interesting/effective combo.

Baitwize sell it but I've also found a direct supplier But I'd have to buy a minimum 20L. Which would be fine if someone wanted 10L I'd go halves. 20l be to much.

Just checked out the spec sheet of celmanax. Nearly 10wt% of protein content and 78% of moisture.
Wouldn't you be better off with liquid enzyme treated yeast from feedstim
(45wt% of protein content)

It's a liquid yeast made for the cattle industry. Helps cattle digest carbohydrates. It would indeed work well with liquid liver, both in the bait and as a top dressing once it's made. Baitwize sell it by the litre. As you only need 20mil per kilo I can't see the point of buying 10l.

I have moved to a fishmeal this year but include a bit of brocacel yeast in my base mix, would this liquid complement what is basically a fishmeal bait, just as a glug, I am thinking, maybe mixed with a fish type liquid?

Yeah it's something I'm interested in. There's another seller on eBay also. Works out around £160 for 20 litres direct so around £8 litre.

But is it a waste @ 20ml per kilo direct into the bait.

I use it in powder form 20g per kg and in liquid form at 20ml per kilo , it basically claims to turn boring old carbs to sugars within your mix , something I've been using for a while now .
Works well in most mixes , within the mix , I wouldn't use it as a glug or soak though , there are better products out there for that job

This would work well with your mix Tranter , 1kg will last you a while @ 20ml/20g inclusion rate

You could consider a liquid liver which compliments the Brocacel yeast well and gives a nice savoury smell.

Do I understand this correctly: celmanax helps hydrolysizing the carbs? If so, I assume you let your dough rest for a couple of hours?

Ordered a litre to try it. Already have the liver from BAF

Basemix is a fairly simple birdfood / milk protein mix with some added yeasts, spices and vegetable proteins. So it should compliment it nicely.

AJM; I have already discovered the delights of liquid liver combined with yeast products, as you say, a LOVELY savoury smell, despite the neat liquid on it's own being god damn awful! Every time I measure out this liquid I imagine it is something a celebrity in the jungle would be consuming in a pint glass on "I'm a celebrity..." with Ant and Dec guffawing in the background! But leave it overnight with some yeast sprinkled on and your bait takes on a WONDERFUL carpy aroma.
