I've seen lots of posts about the coal/bead cobb grill which seems very popular, however dealing with charcoal or similar, just seems messy to me. Has anyone used the gas cobb grill?. I mainly want it for roasting stuff, but will also get the grill attachment to bbq on. Looked at the webber GA gas, but only seems to have one burner so cannot do small indirect cooks like you can can on the charcoal one.

Seem to remember Gerry might of used one, might be wrong though.
Edit, might have been Cadec Safari or similar thinking about it

I've just used a metal plate and a cooling rack to cook ribs indirectly on small kettle BBQs, would that not work on the Weber?
I've got a cadac safari for that sort of cooking when fishing but I rarely use it, Coleman also do one similar, think it's called a party 400

yes I have got a few different ones
including a couple of Cadac safari chefs and a Cobb Air charcoal version ( I definitely would never buy the gas version
)
as far as the Cobb goes negative points are just one IMHO its BIG !! however the list of plus points is long !!
and its important to realise the Cobb is basically an oven you can very easily cook a full roast dinner on it in a couple of hours while fishing in other words what ever you can cook in an oven at home you can now do it on the bank pizzas pies anything really It roasts, it bakes, it fries, it grills
charcoal its amazing how very little charcoal you need you can pick it up and carry it it dont get hot so of course wont burn the grass you can stand it on a glass or wood topped table at home etc
here is a very old video from 2013 one of loads but the one that made me buy one LINKY POO
EDIT
but FFS ! DONT use those little white kerosene fire lighters but the natural wood shaving bundle type they will light so much better one bundle can last up to 10 mins !!
Flamers or the Big K ones but the very best I have found bit more expensive are these
LINKY POO FIRE LIGHTERS

I wouldnt want to lug about a gas bottle for a start
here is my tuppa ware type box believe it or not there is enough charcoal tubes for at least THREE BBQ`s lasting 3 to 5 hours each and way to many firelighters you only need 2 of them to get it going

The compact has special extension rings (purchase separately) to move the cooking area, away from the coals. Get the Premier or Air - you will only want one anyway after buying the compact.
A stunning oven. I had marinated pork belly with spuds and veg last night on the syndicate. I haver never eaten so well (and easily) since I got my Cobb a year ago.

you wont need many most I have needed to use was 3 and that was a big normal BBQ
but normally 2 of them lights the Cobb and they dont smell or smoke and last up to 10 mins they are brilliant
and I agree I would not buy the compact I started on a premier then sold it and bought the Air

bloody hell ! thats going to last you forever !
Best used if stood upright in the Cobb Firebasket like their own mini chimneys take a bit longer to light than normal shaped briquettes however so worth it as
3cm lengths burns about 3 hours, and 5cm about 5 hours you can put them out with water or put them in a sweet tin and suffocate them and relight them next time so last ages no smoke and burn really hot
cut them with and old knife and a hammer
